Body of Proof

Dana Delany never made a strong impact on Desperate Housewives.

But most viewers didn't blame the actress for her character's struggles - and neither, it's clear, did ABC.

The network has given Delany her own series, as she'll anchor Body of Proof at 9 p.m. on Friday nights. Yes, it's another procedural, featuring Delany as a brain surgeon who becomes a medical examiner (an unconventional one that plays by her own rules, of course).

But it's unique in its focus on strong female characters. Aside from Delany, the show also stars Jeri Ryan and Sonja Sohn.
