Aside from the fact that it's been hugely mean-spirited with mildly sinister undertones, I'd say the vibe of the show is pretty good so far, wouldn't you? - Robert Downey Jr. on the Ricky Gervais-hosted Golden Globe Awards.
Indeed, the British comedian didn't break his promise to be far more subversive this year than he was when hosting this event in 2010.
He kicked off the evening by wondering what Charlie Sheen does on New Year's Eve; implied than Tom Cruise and John Travolta are gay; and made us spit out our drinks when referring to Bruce Willis as "Ashton Kutcher's dad."
Somewhere in there, a bunch of awards were also handed out. Check out Gervais' opening monologue below:
