Fringe Season Finale Reaction: What Now?!?

at .

Where do we go from here?

That's what our critic asked after viewing Friday's stunning, cliffhanger-riffic season finale of Fringe. Sounds like a question for producer Jeff Pinkner and J.H. Wyman, doesn't it?

Pointing to a key scene during the episode, Wyman told TV Line: “When Walter in the future says he has figured out a plan to send a message back to the past, he says that bringing Peter’s consciousness forward would have consequences.”

Okay, so how did Peter vanish from existence? The producers wouldn't say, but they did add a few season four teases. To wit:

Wyman, on what was "lost in Detroit:" “That’s not something the audience needs to understand just yet. It’s obviously something heavily emotional between them – that may or may not be the cause of Broyles losing an eye.”

Have we seen the last of Moreau and grown-up Elle? Yes.

If Peter never existed, does that change all we know about the show? No. "Walter and [William] Bell were always trying to find a way to cross over, even before the Peter [abduction] incident,” Pinkner reminds. “So things may have happened differently.”

Fringe Quotes

Walter: It's a shame I don't have a lab. I'd like to examine him.
Peter: You do have a lab, Walter. Your lab at Harvard.
Walter: Yes. I do, don't I?

Just your average multi-national corporation specializing in secret bio research and defense contracting. Massive Dynamic. Seems like such an innocent name for a corporation, don't you think?
