They're alive!

Two months after All My Children and One Life to Live were canceled by ABC, the network announced today that the soap opera would be revived via the Internet.

All My Children and One Life to Live

What will this mean as far as budget, casts and other details go? It's unclear at the moment. But ABC has entered into a multi-year licensing deal with media firm Prospect Park, whose reps - Rich Frank and Jeff Kwatinetz - released the following statement today:

“We are privileged to continue the legacy of two of the greatest programs to air on daytime television, and are committed to delivering the storylines, characters and quality that audiences have come to love for over 40 years. ‘All My Children’ and ‘One Life to Live’ are television icons, and we are looking forward to providing anytime, anywhere viewing to their loyal community of millions. Technology changes the way the public can and will view television shows.

Now that there are so many devices available in addition to television sets, viewers are taking advantage of watching shows wherever they are and on any number of devices.  The driving force in making the switch and attracting new audiences is to have outstanding programs that people want to watch. We believe that by continuing to produce the shows in their current hour format and with the same quality, viewers will follow the show to our new, online network.”

Details will follow. But All My Children airs its final ABC broadcast on Friday, September 23, while One Life to Live will do so in January.

how do I find the new AMC & OLTL online?? What web site?? When do they start?? I only have an iPad , will I be able to get these shows?? And for what it's worth ----- I hate ABC for putting $ before how all this effects people's lives, the actors, their family, the crew, etc. ABC SHOW "the chew" looks like crap, nobody will "swallow" that !!!

I watched the very first episode of AMC on Jan 5, 1970 my 22th birthday. I was hooked and have been a loyal AMC fan for almost 42 years. Two years earlier on July 15, 1968,I had become a loyal fan of OLTL with its first episode. OLTL and I had a first anniversary in my hospital room, the day after the birth of my first child, a daughter. My love for the soaps began on April 1, 1963. I watched the first episode of GH at the age of 15 when I was home sick from school with my aunt. A date now marked forever in my mind. On April 1, 2002 my first granddaughter was born. These three soaps have been a large part of my life. I watced the last episode of AMC yesterday and fell as if there has been a death in the family. To ABC: I will not be watching the Chew or any other new series on ABC. When OLTL is gone; I will only watch GH until it is canceled. To the sponsors of the Chew: I will boycott your products, and send out emails asking friends to do the same.

I am really going to miss these shows!I have grown up with these people, their trial and tribulations, even tho I don't watch everyday, whenever I would watch I could catch up !!"Dorian Lord"best of luck, you were my "hero"loved the character, wha t are the networks thinking when they cancel such beloved shows, and so much other crap is left on???!!!and Erika Slezak, she is a wonderful actress, have so enjoyed her over the years, especially her split personality! These shows will never be replaced-I started watching these shows in 1970, along with Dark Shadows!

as for the end of all my children alot of viewers will no longer be able to follow through with the program. With all this new tech stuff the older crowd who do not know how to access this program will greatly affect the ratings of the show.Im dissappointed to be cut off like that. This is something that has been on for over 40 years and to leave viewers hanging like that it is just wrong i myself have been watching for over 35 years its just that time of day were you can take a breather. You really need to consider this.

I was truly saddened by the idea of these Soaps being canceled. I started watching with my mom when I was a very little girl. Might sound weird, but growing up we taped these shows and watched them during dinner and fast forwarded thru the commercials. Mom thought that was pretty cool, that we could watch two hours of soaps in an hour and a half or less. lol..My mom passed away 2 years ago, and at 41, I have religiously continued to watch these shows. Some how there is a part of her with me in every episode. I don't think people understand what iconic shows really mean to people!!

I hate ABC for doing this.

Why can't ALL MY CHILDREN AND ONE LIFE TO LIVE still be on soapnet? Why do they have to take it off all together?

I was very sad, when they announced that AMC was being cancelled. Thanks to Prospect Park for giving us back our favorite shows.

I just hope most of the actors are staying! Also, to ALL the AMC fans, even if the soap airs at certain time each day, can't we watch it whenever we choose on the net, like at night? I am sorta new to this. Any helpful hints would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!

I started watching "All My Children" again when I heard it was being canceled. I had not seen the show for a few years. I am watching and enjoying. The actors have great chemistry and it is very entertaining. I thought the Jane and David episodes were great. The casting is superb. All the actors should know they do a superb job and am sure they work very hard. AMC is the only soap I watch or care to watch.

One Life To Live Quotes

I don't know, something twisted. I mean, this whole place is twisted. It's like some twisted shrine of him and mother. What'd you do down here, gramps? Count your money and stare at yourself while groping at your daughter? Bastard!

Jessica: Do you know what an evil, lying tramp Shawna is?
Rex: Yeah. That's why I like her.
