America's Next Top Model Review: Future CSIs?

by at . Comments

Oh my, who says models aren't smart?

In "Anthony Zuiker," we got an early look at the most painful challenge that all ANTM candidates face: memorizing lines. But double the pain because they had to memorize difficult (re: unpronounceable) medical jargon from CSI.

CSI AuditionIn almost every cycle of ANTM to date, there was a medical mishap. In Cycle 6, Danielle suffered from food poisoning in Thailand; in Cycle 7, CariDee almost got hypothermia. This cycle it was Kayla with a serious headache.

After Kayla overdosed on ibuprofen, the poor thing had a “mini-heart attack” and was taken to the hospital.Thankfully, she returned to model mansion looking as good as new, even if she did look drained throughout the episode.

The actual CSI challenge was seriously painful to watch.Neosporin?Gas?Mass?Ass?These were just some of the words that the girls threw around as they attempted to pronounce "gas chromatograph mass spectrometer."

None of the girls did well except for poised Bre and "716 Angelea" (I still don’t know what that means).Bre was picked as the challenge winner, giving her a 30-min spot on CSI!

The photoshoot itself was relatively simple: pose for an Express ad based on four different categories: flirt, socialite, girlfriend, and cool girl. Most of the girls nailed it, and sweet Laura and Allison did especially well.

On the downside, Camille, who has been worried about her finances and her age, wasn't convincing as a socialite while Lisa was bat s*it insane as usual.Bianca copped some major 'tude and turned Mr. Jay off. Never a good thing!

But Camille did bring up a valid point for the All-Stars Cycle. The girls from earlier cycles are much older than girls from say... Cycle 10 and up.Camille, Lisa, and Shannon are definitely showing their age and in the modeling world that just doesn’t fly.It seems unfair to put them at such a disadvantage when Express probably won’t want an older model for their campaigns. I even remember thinking how old Brittany looked in the first episode of All-Stars. Thoughts on this?

Predictably, Allison and Laura (who are my personal favorites at this point) got high marks for their photos, as did Angelea and Dominique (those two seem SO similar to me!). Camille and Lisa ended up in the bottom two and Camille was sent home for her vacant photo. Please send crazy Lisa away next! Her outfit at panel was atrocious…do they not care about that anymore?

What did you think of tonight’s episode? Was it fair to send Camille home?

Shannon should go next. She's mundane, average looking and self-righteous in an idiotic way (bikini swimsuit vs. panties?? And she wants to be a "Top Model"?). But she isn't polarizing, as Tyra would put it, just mildly annoying. Picking her was an obvious cheap ploy to appeal to evangelical WASPs who watch this show as a guilty pleasure. But I'm glad Camille is gone - years of wearing weaves has left her halfway bald. She needs some Rogaine, stat.

716 Is an area code. Angelea is from Buffalo,NY, so when she says that she's referring to representing her hometown. She and Dominque do look alike, I agree.
