Elizabeth Marie, when the Observers said, "He never existed," they didn't mean that Peter Bishop literally never lived in either universe. They meant that the Peter the Fringe team knew never existed. The Peter that had an impact because of September's interference had been erased and the timeline was restored to what it was supposed to be before September stepped in to save him from the lake.

    @ Elizabeth
I think it's more like the Adult version of Peter cease to exist because as it was explained, the observer didn't stepped in to save Peter from the lake. Peter died from drowning, hence Peter(adult) never exist.

and because of the change event, the universe has split into a different time stream. What we are seeing now is the second time stream(where Peter is dead), while Peter is stuck in the original time stream.

I hope I am making any sense... This is only my theory. =]

I'm confused. If Peter never existed, which is what the Observers (and the reviewer--hi, Reviewer!) said, how can Walter remember his death and crossing over to the other universe to get the other Peter? is this a big plot hole or is it that since Peter seems to be returning that those involved with him are starting to remember him?

This was a great episode, although seeing Walter struggle with hallucinations of Peter was so saddening..

It is extremely exciting to see this story unfold, I can`t wait to see Peter come back and what happens after that!
