NBC Cancels The Playboy Club, Picks Up Pair of Sitcoms

by at . Comments

The Playboy Club has served its last scantily-clad drink.

NBC canceled this controversial drama after it debuted to five million viewers and dropped considerably since; the most recent installment netted just 3.4 million households. Reruns of Prime Suspect will air Mondays at 10 p.m. on NBC until it decides what else to do with that timeslot.

Meanwhile, the network has gone in the opposite direction regarding two sitcoms: Both Up All Night and Whitney have been granted full-season orders.

Said NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt: "We're thrilled with the creative direction of both shows as well as the potential for them to continue to build loyal audiences over the coming months. We're proud of all of the producers, writers, actors, and directors who have worked so hard to bring these shows to life."

i loved this show , i cant believe another network wont pick it up , i was hooked after the first episode and it also had a great cast of amazing actors . Apparently NBC doesn't give a shit about what the people want anymore . i for one am sure as hell not watching the two cheesy ass sitcoms they replaced the The Playboy Club with

I loved the show, and how can they build viewers, if they cancel it wo giving it a chance for people to watch !!!!!! I willl definatly not be watching whitney or any nbc shows now ! They could habe aired the remaining for the fans but greed is all I C in NBC!!!!!!!!!!!!

I liked the new show, It is a change for the people that that like to watch adult shows. I hope someone else picks up this program,(another network)E-channel maybe. Could go on like The Girls Next Door? I wish they would bring back Playboy After Dark. They(NBC) should have given it a chance.

This was a good show, i'm so tired of the same old cop shows same thing week after week. This show was better than pan am and thats still on. Give the show a chance it has none if you only show 3 episodes.

I AM SOOOOO SAD they cut The playboy club!! I looked forward to watching it every week. I think it was a great show and it was different. I hope another network picks it up because it was getting sooo good!! The new shows are no good

Will we be able to watch the rest of the episodes they filmed or were we just left haning? I was just getting excited about the show becuase Cassidy Freeman from Smallville was finally on. I agree they should have let it run a little longer, seeing as they have nothing else to put on at the moment.

I've given Prime Suspect, Up All Night, and Whitney a couple of chances but these shows just S-U-C-K!!! Bring back The Playboy Club!

Noo! I love this show. This was the ONLY good new show this season. I will not except it. Please please networks see the good The play boy club and pick up this show. My husband even loved the show and he doesn't even like watching t.v. Shows so that's speaks volumes.

Darm!! I agree with everyone else! Why was this show cancelled!!! It was great! Loved the story line and that it related to the 60's! I hope another station takes up where your station left off! This was bad to cancel this show.....

Noooooooo SAVE THE PLAYBOY CLUB don't cancel my fav new show!
