Ms Orlando, I am totally with you on that point - we need spunky, feisty female characters - the old fairy stories just...dont cut it for us! *high fives*.
So let me tell you my ears perked up at this episode when Snow showed what she's made of. Jennifer Goodwin is working for me with her combo of cinammon hot chocolates and thiefy antics.
Also Josh Dallas and her were convincing!
And emma and henry are growing on me..
All in all, the show is pulling me in :)

Is there anything significant about the Dr's name, "Whale"? The only fairy tale whales I can think of were in Pinocchio and... another book.
@AYN and ALLISON About Snow White ruining the Queen's life: If I remember correctly the Queen mentioned in a prior episode that she had a person she loved taken from her (other than her father). Maybe it was a love interest that rejected her and she holds Snow White responsible. Not much of a theory, I know, but it's all I've got.
Charming's wife? IMO she was just someone hired by the queen to play the role of Charming's wife. If Charming doesn't remember being married it can all be explained by claiming he suffers some kind of amnesia.
I'm leaning toward the Sheriff being one of the Queen's Huntsmen. The Sheriff of Nottingham is a villain and our sheriff doesn't seem like a villain.
I agree with our reviewer; I prefer a Snow White who is more

I didn’t really care for the first two episodes (too soap opera and too much screen time with the two women at each other’s throats). This episode was going to be my last. However, I think I’ll follow it now. I thought this episode was genuinely sweet and engaging. I think the dialogue is a bit wooden and I often feel I’m watching a high school play due to its pace, spot on cues and set pieces. However, this one brought some adventure, some surprises and was a bit heartbreaking. It’s no Walking Dead. But I’m engaged and happy about it. Looking forward to following it…

If you've been watching they tell you "Only one knows" the writers aren't toying with us. they've already let the viewers know that the queen knows she cast a spell. like in last weeks episode when she was with Mr. Gold. and why would the queen make a curse and include herself in it? plus she named her "son" after her father Henry. I don't think you've been watching @C. Orlando.

I was so sure that Charming will woke up, remembering and saying something like "Snow White"! How disappointed I was! I mean not in the show, as it keeps the mysteries up but in myself. That why I never try to guess because I'm usually wrong xD Anyway, it would be great to have someone believing Henry but it's probably to soon. I also love Snow White's story as a bandit! She rocks!

Hmmm, I thought that the Sheriff was Robin Hood but, after reading the comments, maybe he IS the huntsman? Though, I am on the fence with this. Who is the doctor then (besides Uncle John from VD)? Isn't it possible HE'S the huntsman?
And, dear reviewer, are you REALLY still questioning if or how much Regina remember of the curse? It's so obvious that both she AND Mr.Gold/Rumplestiltskin remember it all fully... Not only did Mr.Gold saying "please" last episode scare the crap out of Regina as she realized the deal they had made in the other realm, but Regina is so clearly freaked out by what Henry has sparked...right down to the lie about why she is Charming's emergency contact...it's because she is trying to keep him out of it!
I am very curious as to what Snow did to the Queen to ruin her life.
All in all, really starting to like this show and the direction it is taking!

It's one thing to modernize characters for today's audience, it's another to take a name and physical description and then go wild. Snow White is completely misleading and unbelievable as Snow White, her characterization as a spunky, cynically witty woman is not relatable as "Snow White", so she might as well be any old made-up princess.
And the step-mother queen? PLEASE. The character development is again, completely off as they're missing the entire CRUX of her identity - her vanity. Hell the original fairy tale plot is ignited when she learns Snow White is prettier than her and while it doesn't need to be a driving motivation to world domination, it needs to at least be a resurfacing trait in the development of who she is. This series had such potential and it looks like it was blown on poor research, understanding, and writing.

Nope the Sherriff is not the Sherriff of Nottingham !! He's the huntsman from snow white!!!!! Think about it. He's one of the queen/mayor's soldiers! He does the queens bidding but guess what he has a conscience!!! The huntsman let snow white go! And the Sherriff shows good qualities!!!

My husband and I are both hooked, as well as my 13 year old daughter. I am so happy to have a show to share with her, that is clearly safe for her to watch and fun for her to figure out who are the right characters! @c4llum, My daughter thinks that the Sheriff is The Sheriff of Nottingham, from Robin Hood, and I think she is correct that Robin Hood is considered a fairy tale.

Loved this episode. The chemistry between Snow White and Prince Charming is great. Glad to know it got picked up for a full season. ;)

that's what you missed in the second ep, Emma already knows. and even in this ep, Henry kept saying that she is snow white because Jone Doe is Charming and that is why he wanted Mary to read to him. so Emma already knows

@Lara- While I respect your opinion, it doesn't seem from your post that you understand the story so far. It seems the plot and the inclusion of fairy tale lore is going right over your head. You are probably right that this is not the show for you.

I like this show a lot. Emma is awesome. The little boy is cute. His adoptive mother, the Mayor is about a witch and a half! I liked yesterday's episode when the Prince Charming who was in the coma grabbed the teacher's hand as she read to him.

I absolutely LOVE this show. I had to miss last Sundays episode due to a freak october snowstorm and power outages, but was not dissapointed with last nights episode even though I didn't see last weeks episode it moved along nicely and I did not find myself asking what did I miss last week.
Can't wait to see how Emma reacts when she finds out that Mary Margaret is Snow White and her actual birth mother.

Well I have to admit I watched the 1st episode kind of as a "what the heck,might as well" and I am stunned by how intrigued I have become every week to have this "fairy tale" unfold for me. I am enjoying how they are merging the two worlds in a way that is a bit of a stretch of course yet still do entertaining.....am glad this is renewed already.....

Worst of the three episodes. Goodwin, who is getting a lot of love, is unbelievable as a tough Snow White though does a good job with Mary Margaret. Some of the dialogue is cringe inducing. They need to pick up their game or I'll be a former viewer for sure.

This was an amazing episode. I loved seeing Snow and Charming (or James, as we now know is his name) meet. And even after just a short time together, when they said goodbye it was electric. I definitely think Regina knows what is going on. And I am also beginning to suspect the Sheriff is the Huntsman, but my only question about that is why would she make him her Sheriff/protector when he betrayed her by not killing Snow White...

I think the sheriff is the Huntsman or Woodsman or whatever. The one who was supposed to kill Snow White but took pity on her.
I wasn't sure about this show at first...I thought it could be a bit too cheesy/fairytale-ish, but I am really liking it! Something good to watch on Sunday nights.

Didnt think the show could get worse than last one but I was wrong. Commercials better than show. So wil look for something else in that time. Like one said above can always change the channel.
