NBC Announces Return Date for Community, New Spring Schedule

by at .

We'll try to contain our excitement as we report this, but... NBC HAS ANNOUNCED A RETURN DATE FOR COMMUNITY!!!!!!!!

The sitcom, which the network yanked off its schedule in December, will once again fill the 8 p.m. time slot on Thursday nights, beginning March 15.

In the Cafeteria

Community will take over the spot currently occupied by 30 Rock, which will shift to 8:30 p.m.,  and be followed by The Office and Up All Night in their regular positions.

Parks and Recreation, meanwhile, will then go on hiatus until April 19, returning at 9:30 p.m. and taking the spot of Up All Night once that sitcom completed its first season run.

NBC will also debut a trio of new comedies this spring:

  1. Bent (March 21), which stars David Walton and Amanda Peet and is described as “romantic comedy about a womanizing, surfer dude contractor and his beautiful, no-nonsense, type-A client, who work together to remodel each other’s lives as they renovate her Venice, California home.”
  2. Best Friends Forever (April 4), which features Jessica St. Clair and Lennon Parham as, well, best friends forever.
  3. Betty White’s Off Their Rockers (April 4), a Punk'd-like hidden camera series.

Even a computer program agrees with me that Community is technically better than the other sitcoms on NBC.

Hey, NBC. i have an idea. why dont you stop messing with the only funny show on your network and kill all those boring lame family/couple sit coms you keep shoveling down out throats.

NO ONE CARES ABOUT COUPLES AND HAPPY BABIES!! if people wanted that kind of crap their marraiges wouldnt fail!

nice to have it back...but ill be sad to see parks go

30 Rock didn't get any more viewers at 8pm than Community did. I hope that shows NBC that the problem is not the show, it's the freakin' TIMESLOT.

I can't wait for Community to come back!!

I really hope that NBC will see from its current Thursday night comedies scheduling 'experiment' that nothing really helped it against CBS. 30 Rock didn't do much better than Community. And Up All Night isn't doing any better on Thursdays than it did when it was on Wednesdays. In fact, all four current NBC Thursday night comedies just came off series lows in ratings...even with brand new episodes.

While bringing Community back may not help NBC much in ratings, it shouldn't really hurt either. Hopefully NBC will renew Community for the Fall and return to the old familiar Thursday night schedule. It can then shift Up All Night back to Wednesdays and try to build on that night's comedy block.

Community is better than 30 Rock.
