Whoever wrote the part where Nick and Andy get to be on a secret task force kinda sucks at being realistic. I get they need someone at 15 Division, but really a really new rookie & previously suspended rookie? And the suspension was for breaking someone's cover?
Besides. I love Gail and Nick together. Andy and Nick are just friends. Gail and Sam are just friends too.
And I like Luke. Not dating anyone on the show right now though. But I like the thing he said to Traci. I don't think the task force thing is his fault. And hot.

And then Chris moving makes me sad. Hopefully he won't. Hopefully he didn't tell Dov because he really isn't going to do this.

And I hope Oliver gets back with Zoe. However this week it was fun to watch him.

And the Andy & Mom thing sucks. I don't like that. It sounds fake too. Andy is too careful to let her mom in so fast.

Admittedly, I am new to this show. I tried watching the pilot or so back in the day, but I couldn't get into it. Times have changed and I've seen all 3 seasons recently.

First and foremost, I don't like Andy for the same reason I'm not a fan of Meredith on Grey's. The writer's are trying too hard to make her a 'hero', while at the same time she and Traci [rather than Christina] are sleeping with their supervisors.

What I've liked is Gail - and the S3 finale was sadistic. Nick disappearing without a word, the same way he left their engagement. Just like the situation with Chris and Dov, she's alone again with no one. Despite her general Yoko-ness

I enjoyed this episode but it was not the great finale I was looking for.
Where to start.... Luke and Traci together that feels wrong to me. I think it was strange Luke was learking in the hall and offered Andy the job, epically with the suspension 3 months prior, I totally think that was unrealistic. Do you really think Luke would try to keep Sam and Andy apart? Luke did care for Andy and I like to think despite the one time cheat that he care/cares about her feelings and wants what is best for her.
Nick I love you and I think the break up coach and bond formed between them then was hysterica to watch but Andy can not hook up with another cop in 15 right now! Biddies that kiss with Gail was so passionate and Andy is her friend!
Oh poor Gail she is going to be hell to deal with over the next few months!
As for Sam, Sam your words melted my hart but it did feel a little like you were scared of loosing someone else. I like the lookerroom chat, where Andy gave him a pass on the " I

Great review. I agree wholeheartedly with most of it!!

I think Chris will stay at Precinct 15. I also see Traci and Luke getting together in the end. I hope that Oliver and Zoe ( I think that is her name) reconcile if that is what he truly wants!

This was a great finale! I am still getting over it!
I knew that Andy would not turn down the undercover assignment, even with Sam professing his love and the sweet words he said to her in their last scene together. She is still hurt and she felt "running away" was the best thing to do but she will regret it as when Season 4 starts, 6 months has passed and with Sam not knowing where Andy when he will have sadly moved on to Marlo (still need to figure out how I can get that role...lol).
Nick took the task force job as he assumed Gail would be put on permanent probation and decided to leave before she did. I am Team Sandy but I really like Nick too, you can tell that Andy and Nick will become an item while away.

Sam has a lot of work cut out for him. His actions of affection seemed determined by this life changing situation. It's like he realized he could lose Andy and spilled his guts. That in itself could be a double edge sword. As much as Sam tried to reach out to Andy before, he barely touched the surface. He was holding a lot of pain inside him. I believe we need to get more insight into to who Sam is and what makes him think. His decisions would always be compromised if he chooses to act out of impulse and always at the last possible moment.

I don't like the fact that Nick and Andi are asked to disappear without a trace to go undercover. If that was for real, then anyone with any connection to humanity would not be keen on doing it. Regarding Diaz going to Timmins (yeah, I grew up there), I find it hilarious that they have the city being dangerous stereotype down. Loads of us found Toronto to be "dangerous". As for the comments about policing in Timmins to be boring, they do have their moments and you can never forget that they have bears in town, something you don't get in the city.

Leesa--good call, I agree completely! That's what bothered me the most about the finale. Not that she accepted the job but the fact it was even offered to her in the first place! Less than a year ago she was on a 3-month suspension for compromising an undercover investigation, there's no way in hell any higher-up would have approved her for this op!! I mean really, I swear Luke lurking in the back heard the whole conversation w Sam and that's why he offered that minute. And Nick? No offense but he's the newest rookie and he gets the spot?? So unrealistic in my opinion. Yes I wanted a Sam & Andy reconciliation but I would've been disappointed if she forgave him that easily after all he's done. Wouldn't seem genuine. And yes Claire bugs me, she hasn't earned it for me either. Ugh. Disappointed overall, they better make the season four return worth it for this mess!

    To Sasha and Maaike,

Yes, you're right. I meant Denise. Thanks for catching that. I've gone ahead and corrected it.

  11. Leesa

I am still too heart-broken to have an indepth conversation...BUT I loved Dov's line "I get it; Eat, Pray, Hate"

Yes, Claire getting to jump right back into Andys life bugs the poop out of me!!!!

And DO NOT even tell me that Luke didn't pick Andy (consciously or subconsciously) to keep her and Sam apart!!!! He told her in the beginning, he had HUNDREDS of people from other Divisions that were more qualified and he picks a Rookie who has been on the Job for a minute and her!!!!!!!!!

  12. Maaike

@Sasha, I think she meant Denice

    Who's Debbie?

It really annoys me that Andy left without saying something to Sam. In season 2 Sam left too, but he didn't know that Andy called him.
At the beginning of the episode she told her mum that Sam didn't talked about his feelings. But at the end he did! He told her he loved her, he wanted to show her that every single day! He even wanted to get a dog! (I thought that part was hilarious) Come on Andy, everything you wanted him to say, he said. But only because her mom, who is back in her life for a few months, said she should move on, she left.
It can go two ways I think, or Sam moved on when Andy comes back, or we get the same situation as the final of season 2.

I am definitely positive that something will happen between Gail and Sam or Andy and Nick between the season 3 finale to the six month gap when season 4 returns.

  16. Gaby

Yeah the Andy and her mom thing bugs me so much.
For me when I saw the kiss Nick gave Gail, I figured it was a goodbye kiss and I was worried he'd rejoined the army. I definitely knew he was going somewhere but didn't think of the undercover mission because I thought this would be a good way to introduce a new character. I love their friendship though, it's truly great that he's her breakup buddy and I hope the writers don't ruin that by making it a (temporary or not) romance.
Chris not telling Dov was just mean, how could he do that. Oh well.
Definite trouble in paradise next season. Can't wait.

    Great review as always.

Andy & her mom - is kind of bugging me :( nothing for 12-14 years and then they're like best friends (giving her the book, helping through breakup etc)...

Denise & Chris thing - he gave Traci crap for having a kid out of wedlock in S1 but all of a sudden he is dad to Christian??

Timmins is quite small (about 40,000 people) - I'm pretty sure anything outside of the GTA - policing can be quite boring. Toronto has indeed suburbs where it is okay (15 Div is based on the 51 Div of the city and that part of the city is quite diverse) and quite commutable.

I found it funny that the blonde was hitting on Oliver and not Sammy (the hot/dark/mystery bachelor). It also brings back another episode where Oliver goes to Sam for advise about whether he should or not tell Zoe about breaking one of the 3 rules (strippers). And Sam tells him why did he come to him for relationship advice. In the end of 3.13 Sam gives Oliver relationship advice & to try a

  18. Abby

to clarify I meant Nick and Andy would come together maybe.

  19. Abby

For me this did not seem like a season finale. It was Rookie Blue as it always is. Don't get me wrong, I love it like I always do, but I wish there was more going on with Sam and Andy. Yes, I think this show could be a cop version of Grey's Anatomy where everybody sleeps with everybody. Nick and Gail could seem solid now but being out undercover with Nick by themselves I could see the writers throwing in a soap opera twist and sticking them together at least for a little while. They do have chemistry. But in the end I always hope for Sam and Andy.
