The Americans Sneak Peek: First Footage!

Considering The Americans is yet to even air, and Homeland swept this year's Emmys, it may be a tad premature to dub the upcoming FX thriller as the next version of the incredibly Showtime drama.

But still. It looks and sounds tremendous!

As previously reported, The Americans is set in 1981 and stars Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys as two KGB spies who live outside Washington D.C. with their kids and who have concealed their true identities in order to carry out a mission for their native country.

But complications will arise as the arranged couple grows closer to both their new land and one another. Check out footage from the series below and mark your calendars for its January premiere:
