Year in Review: Saddest Character Death of 2012

by at . Comments

Before we pop the champagne in celebration of the new year, let's take a moment and pour one out for those we lost in 2012.

From plane crashes to lead pipe attacks, a number of beloved characters took their final breath over the past dozen months.

  • Lori Grimes Picutre

Which death hit you the hardest? Which left an ever-lasting impression? Which made you create a doll of the showrunner in question to burn in effigy as you cried yourself to sleep every night very sad?

Lily Bell from Hell On's still p@ssing me off.

Lexie's death still made no sense for me (and the timing in the episode). Alaric's death was sad but no character on TVD is safe, so it was predictable (and he still can come back as a ghost...)

Matthew in Downton Abbey

Mike of course, i cried so much

Alaric I'm still upset about it.

The only one of those series that I ever watch is Breaking Bad, and none of those deaths are tragic--just inevitable. Currently, I'm watching BBC Christmas specials, and out of 3 programs and 2 deaths, only one was sad, but mentioning it would be a huge spoiler, so there you go.

I have to agree with lalalala Dan Scott finally finding redemption in death, takes the cake.

Dan freaking Scott

mike from dessy h/wives i cried like a baby at his funeral

Elena (The Vampire Diaries). She was the main death to come in the season's finale and it was very sad to watch her sacrificing herself for Matt as to redeem her father's sacrifice.
