Aaron Sorkin and company were the featured guests yesterday at PaleyFest 2013, as the creator and his Newsroom cast took a look ahead to Season 2 of this controversial HBO hit and offered up a few teases.
To wit: which recent events will be the focus of Will McAvoy and his broadcast team? Teased Sorkin:
"We have the election, and the primaries, and the conventions, and Trayvon Martin, and the Supreme Court's decision on the Affordable Care Act, and drones."
It also sounds like the season will end just prior to the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary, a tragedy that Sorkin said could be a focus in Season 3.
With Piers Morgan emceeing the Q&A, discussion turned contentious at times between moderator and stars, highlighted by these words from Olivia Munn:
“I prefer to see Piers Morgan and Diane Sawyer just on the news and not a red carpet. To make yourself newsworthy is so egotistical and self-absorbed. That’s the problem with so many news organizations - so many people trying to make themselves a celebrity.”
The Newsroom returns this summer to HBO. Aside from the cast of characters posing above, Constance Zimmer and Patton Oswalt will both stop by as key recurring players.
