at .

The Walking Dead Season 4 premiere date and first trailer were just unveiled at Comic-Con in San Diego.

The AMC hit will return Sunday, October 13, at 9 p.m. EST, for the start of a 16-episode campaign.

The season will be divided into two halves, with the second half commencing in February 2014.

Now for the good stuff. Check out The Walking Dead Season 4 trailer right here, right now:

In typical fashion, the lengthy teaser introduces several new characters, including The Wire's Larry Gilliard Jr., who gets to do some scenes opposite fellow Wire star Chad L. Coleman as Tyreese.

We also see how Rick's group (now including Tyreese and the Woodbury survivors) becomes very efficient in how they deal with the walkers, look for supplies and so forth in Season 4.

As for why Rick wanted to stay in the prison rather than Woodbury?

That will be answered this fall, which will also extrapolate on Rick's relationship with Carl, who turned into a "sociopath" at the end of The Walking Dead Season 3 and served as a wake-up call.
