Caroline and Stefan - The Vampire Diaries

2. Caroline and Stefan - The Vampire Diaries

Caroline and Stefan have been best friends for a long time. They've always had each other's backs and when their various loves have left them high and dry (and they are many), they are each other's go-to person. The best relationships are built on a foundation of friendship. If they let their eyes linger a little longer during a conversation, they might see what we do -- a perfect couple waiting to be connected.

Daryl and Carol - The Walking Dead

3. Daryl and Carol - The Walking Dead

Daryl got softer as Carol grew harder. They were so close to being a couple before Carol made the bad move and was shown the curb. Now that they're out and about again, our vote is Daryl finds Carol and they learn to be hard and soft together, in the correct doses. They're their best chance for surivival in that harsh world.

Jake and Amy - Brooklyn Nine-Nine

4. Jake and Amy - Brooklyn Nine-Nine

Jake and Amy complete each other. He's the perfect detective and she's the perfect cop inside the office. After winning a bet, Jake tried to make their faux date terrible, but we aren't the only ones who realized they had a true connection. They can take it slow, as long as they recognize and nurture it. Go there!

John and Astrid - The Tomorrow People

5. John and Astrid - The Tomorrow People

John and Cara have already had to start fresh, thanks to a dalliance with Stephen. Viewers saw sparks fly when Stephen's BFF saved and cared for John when he was shot and, frankly, maybe they deserve a break. It's easy to root for people who give each other a fresh look, and John and Astrid do just that.

Oliver and Felicity - Arrow

6. Oliver and Felicity - Arrow

We've heard all the evidence, we've seen the tension that could be sliced with an arrow and yet STILL Ollie gets close to everyone but Felicity. Girls will come and go, and Felicity will always be by his side, but she won't wait forever. Stop hiding Oliver!

Carrie and Quinn - Homeland

7. Carrie and Quinn - Homeland

Alright, admittedly it's a little awkward with Brody just left hanging and Carrie carrying his baby, but Quinn has been there for Carrie in many ways knowing this all along. He considered quitting over what she went through! They've always shared tension and he's a better match for her than the married, (dead) terrorist.

Sydney and Andrew - The Crazy Ones

8. Sydney and Andrew - The Crazy Ones

They both date and share with each other all of their secrets, kind of like best friends. However, they've also shared a kiss. They're "this close" to making the move, and it seems the only thing stopping them is how serious it might be if they go there.

Bay and Tank - Switched at Birth

9. Bay and Tank - Switched at Birth

Does anybody even remember Tank's real name? He's the college freshman Bay met while taking a college level art class. She friend-zoned him, but he's the first person to truly care for her without complications. The first guy who would be good for her without baggage. We vote yes to BANK!

Which couple should be the first to take the plunge?

Are you serious?? Daryl & Carol as a couple is a really nasty thought!! He's pretty hot (Boondock Saints anyone?) and she could be his mother, yuck! The thought never crossed my mind; I see nothing romantic, she has been more like a mother figure to him throughout the entire show. Daryl & Michonne maybe......

Yes, actually, it's dead serious. And there is nothing "nasty" about it. Where you see "nothing romantic" I think they are made for each other and will get to that stage eventually. And they have BOTH offered each other support throughout the series, it's not Carol "mothering him." She is TOPS 5 years older than Daryl, not quite old enough to be his mother as far as I can see.

I just love how everyone tries to make Daryl seem like some young 20 something guy when it's clear right down to the grey in his beard that he supposed to be 35-40 years old on the show. He even likens himself to being the age a father would have to be, when upset about Sophia, stating "Sophia wasn't mine!"

And I think Rick should be with Michonne.

Daryl and Carol aren't a couple. By Norman's own words, they're friends, sibling like. That's just weird to put them together.

None of these pairings are canon couples (yet), that's the point of the article.

And Melissa's own words, they're a couple already. But ultimately it's neither actor's decision anyway.

You're right. The idea was to pick only duos hadn't made the leap to couples. They may think they're sibling like on the show now, but viewers see more.

I love how for every couple someone can't imagine, another person desperately wants to see them together. That's the fun of it!
