The Walking Dead Season 5: Predictions are Futile

Have you been following our Walking Dead Comic-Con coverage?

Previously, we posted excerpts from interviews with Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira, along with Norman Reedus, Greg Nicotero, Gale Anne Hurd and Emily Kinney.

Now, we present highlights of our conversation with Chad Coleman (Tyrese), Melissa McBride (Carol), Robert Kirkman (Producer and Comic Writer) and Dave Alpert (Producer).

Doesn't the trailer give a lot away?  The trailer for The Walking Dead Season 5 (below) seems to show a lot more than previous promos. Producer Robert Kirkman said a decision was made to give people "enough," but still keep a lot close to the vest.

"There's just so much going on, that what we've given away is just the tip of the iceberg."

He continued by saying you will not be able to pre-determine the season's offerings by watching the trailer because there are a lot of cool surprises in store for viewers.

How will Carol fit back in with the group? Melissa McBride shared that Carol will fit into the group when she returns - if she returns - due to the changes each character has taken as their world view has been shaped by what they've been through. Kirkman confirmed this by adding that all the characters, especially Rick, have evolved a great deal since the moment he dropped her in the street.

On changes to Tyrese from the comics: Chad Coleman is still struggling with what Tyrese went through. Kirkman is excited by the changes to Tyrese from the comics and having the ability to do more with him than he did previously. He didn't want to play favorites, but admitted a soft spot for Tyrese.

Coleman says it's a push and pull for Tyrese with his humanity. He's searching for the surety of his situations and choosing between right and wrong. His huge heart requires Tyrese to hold onto who he was as he continues to hope things in the world will go back to the way they were.

What's in store for current characters and who may join the show from the comics? Kirkman is excited about the possibilities of bringing comic character Paul Monroe, known as Jesus, to the show because of his adeptness at the martial arts. What about Ezekiel and his tiger?

"We'll see" is the best answer you're going to get because of the complexities of dealing with a tiger. In their fifth season, they have the freedom to break up the cast a little bit to focus on specific characters and Kirkman said we can expect to see more episodes like the one with Darryl and Beth, for example.

The Walking Dead Quotes

Shane: What's the difference between men and women.
Rick: Is this a joke?
Shane: No serious. I've never met a woman who knew how to turn off the light. Born thinking the switch only goes one way: on.

Hey you. Dumbass. Yeah, you in the tank. Cozy in there?
