The Young and the Restless: Gina Tognoni Breathes Life Into Phyllis

at .  Updated at . Comments

Just as Victor Newman is racing to frame his former daughter-in-law Sharon for something involving Phyllis, we got our first look at Gina Tognoni in the role of the comatose Phyllis on The Young and the Restless today.

Jack has fallen in love with Kelly and made the trek to visit Phyllis to lay their relationship to rest, so to speak, even if she can't hear him. Jack has no idea Victor is pulling strings to get Phyllis experimental therapy behind his back but we can assume it will be shocking to all involved when she wakes up.

Gina Tognoni as Phyllis - The Young and the Restless

Frankly, I cannot wait for Phyllis to wake up! Gina Tognoni can come onto a soap and make any role her own. She ruled the screen as Dinah Marler on The Guiding Light.

She replaced the very popular Wendy Moniz years after she left the role, but when a character clicks with the audience, replacing them is always tricky. Tognoni won that gamble!

Michelle Stafford chose to leave The Young and the Restless but her character was a bright light and essential to many stories in Genoa City. After the loss of Michael Muhney as Adam and Billy Miller as Billy (already on their second recast), the decision was made to recast Phyllis.

Tognoni is a spectacular actress and her Phyllis is sure to shake things up in Genoa City. Who are you most excited to see her work with? Do you think her and Jack are destined, or will she be up for a new love interest or one even rekindling an old one?

How will she take Kelly and will she remember what happened with Sharon? Hit the comments and share your excitement!

Are you prepared for Phyllis to wake up?

The Young and the Restless Quotes

Amber Moore: Mm, black with sugar, just the way you like it.
Daniel Romalotti: Thanks... What?
Amber Moore: Nothing.
Daniel Romalotti: I mean, why are you looking at me?
Amber Moore: Oh, sorry. I'm just really happy to have you back.

That was Victor's doing. It was purely personal. Believe me, old moneybags is going to eat his words. The magazine is gonna do great, and beauty of nature will be left in the dust.
