NBC opted to air the 70th Primetime Emmy Awards on a Monday this year, but it failed to stop the steady erosion for the awards show.

Per fast nationals, the telecast slipped 5 percent in total viewers, averaging 9.1 million viewers.

In the demo, it secured a 2.1 rating, even with last year. The true test will be how the telecast holds up when the final ratings are released.

In final ratings, the 2017 airing had 11.4 million viewers and a 2.5 rating. Will this year's telecast be able to secure that?

It's not out of the question.
