Paul Ballard is an FBI agent in Dollhouse. He's been assigned to the case and believes the Dollhouse is a secret and powerful human trafficking operation.
The ridicule from other agents - who don't believe the Dollhouse exists - only fuels Paul's obsession with the investigation. He is specifically focused on Echo who he believes in her former life to have been a girl named Caroline.
Ballard: I know, Echo. I know you remember everything.
Echo: Not remember - feel. I was married. I felt love, and pain, fear. It's not pretend for me. They made me love my little boy and then they took him away. They make it so real. Every time, they make it so real. Why do they do that?
