Bones Review: Mommy Dearest

I do feel that the Booth's mom storyline was contrived but at the same time it was a chance to delve into his past so I suspended my disbelief (which I've been doing a lot lately with this show). I didn't like her all that much. Booth's reaction to her abandonment and the knowledge that she raised children that weren't her own were finally true and had to be gutting. Her whole speech in his office about deserving happiness and making him feel guilty for reacting as any NORMAL child would to abandonment was ridiculous imo, and I don't even like Booth! Also, it's a SeelEy Booth, not Seely fyi.

*Am looking forward to hearing more next week about Brennan's stripper days though in another one of those 'forget everything you already know about Brennan, this week we find out that...' reveals. Oh joy!

If the writers weren't such huge Booth stans, we probably would have a storyline like that one that you postulated and the one that made more sense. Seeing as how Brennan is educated and a scientist, she would have known that research shows that biting at that age indicates that Christine is developing as expected. Once again, their intention was there but the execution failed (S6 anyone?). They took it to the extreme here, once again making a caricature of Brennan as they're wont to do these past few years. I didn't like the hot-sauce story. Don't like Finn. Didn't like the episode either. We got to see them have their customary after-case drinks in the Founding Fathers, so that's a plus (I think). And Hodgins' comments about 'squirrel gizzards and hillbilly broth' were the only thing I liked. Am looking forward to hearing more next week about Brennan's stripper days though in another one of those 'forget everything you already know about Brennan, this week we find out that...' reveals. Bones Review: Blood Diamond

@Ren: I think most of us Brennan fans have come to that conclusion as well. It's no secret how deep her affection for him runs and she's said that she needs a reason to get married. I do believe her reason will be Booth and Christine. And I hope that when that happens, he'll have the common sense to tell her that he's happy enough with just her.

@Miranda: To a certain extent that is true, but not in the heavy handed way that the writers have been portraying her in the past few years (The Feet on the Beach, anyone?!). The first few years of the show had a kickass Brennan who was sure of herself and her expertise. She has always deferred to Booth and Angela in the 'heart' department so it is always disheartening when one of both of them tell her that she needs to be different/better. At least Booth assured her in the end of this episode. This episode's introspection, to me, is just another in a long line of 're-writes' that the writers have been doing in retconning Brennan from the earlier seasons.

Bones Review: Blood Diamond

*I've maintained since the first season that Brennan has been consistently honest and the character with the most integrity on the show. and this cannot be said about anyone else on the show. Everyone from Booth to the squinterns regularly make fun of her and take personal and hurtful jabs at her while I can't recall her ever doing so to any one, intentionally. She's the best in her field and the squint squad are there BECAUSE of her. Remember when she left and they disbanded? Like the reviewer in GMMR said, this putting down Brennan has become a trend lately and needs to stop. And yes, more Caroline please. I'll give you Finn, Sweets, Clark and the new weirdo guy for her and yes, Arastoo too, now that he's with Cam. I like Fisher and this season's Daisy and of course, VNM, though Zack will always have a special place. I do like these standalone episodes, which seems to be the hallmark of Bones now. I'm guessing we're going to get more of these until they try to stuff as many cliffhangers as they can into the finale and leave us hanging till next season.

Bones Review: Blood Diamond

Good episode and I loved the B&B interaction. I felt like giving myself a high-five and yelling 'they're back, baby!' after the last scene, but restrained myself because knowing this show, it'll only be short lived. Old school Booth kicking down the door, hustling Brennan out of her office only that they kiss now too, Hodgins' King of the Lab!, Sweet only appears once, ONCE!, Brennan wearing her old Rolex!! All of it gave me flashbacks to the good old days when Bones was excellent. I liked this episode. Yes, we all already know that Booth is 'perfect', move on already HH! I don't think that Brennan's introspection was a good thing. I felt that once again Brennan is shown as someone that everyone just tolerates and that there's another aspect of her that just isn't 'normal'. Giving her these ridiculous fits of jealousy with Clark (it's getting old now) and having total strangers make fun of her while her own team laughs behind her back is what's cruel and mean. I've maintained since the first season that Brennan has been the most consistently honest and the character with the most integrity on the show. Everyone from Booth to the squinterns regularly make fun of her and take personal and hurtful jabs at her while I can't recall her ever doing so to any one. Bones Review: Three's Company

A good episode overall and definitely the better on of the season. Seeing Booth and Brennan letting their baby duck go was hilarious. As always, Hodgins stole my heart. :) Hopefully, the writers will let us see how their dynamic changes now with Sweets out of the picture. I agree re Daisy. I really hope they don't put them back together. Like immortalfrieza said though, it looks like the writers might just go there (again, for the 392740th time). Gotta say though, one of the reasons why this episode was better was probably because we DIDN'T get that many scenes with just B&B, and the one we did get with just the two of them in the end was still as awkward as ever. Am looking forward to next week's ep though The promo looked interesting.

*What happened to that dynamic? They've reduced what used to be one of the strongest character on television to fit into what Booth sees as his ideal life. Argh, I could go on an on about this. I've loved this show since the pilot and while I'll love it for sentimental reasons, I really do hope someone will put it out of it's misery soon or that the showrunners will get a clue and PLEASE hire better writers! Sorry for going on and on, I have a lot feelz regarding this. Thanks for having a respectful discussion here. :)
