Normally I don't comment about reviews - noone really cares about some random commentors opinions except the people who sit on the computer for hours with no lives and nothing else to care about than what a bunch of strangers say.
BUT I do want to answer the question in the review about this being the first time Lily has worn jeans...
Not true. Season 1, in the loft with Dan's father. Can't remember exactly what episode. But it's happened. Possiblly just the once. But I know it has.
Okay, why are people saying that they are related when he just "Shot down the notion that they are"??? THAT MEANS THEY ARE NOT RELATED PEOPLE!!! Ugh.
But I'm excited to see what happens now that this silly ghost stuff is out of the way. I'm a bit irked that absolutely NO mention WHATSOEVER of Michel, Klaus, Rebekah, Tyler, or Katherine in this last episode. They were all pretty big in the episode before, and then it was like all of a sudden they didn't exist. I'm glad we're finally back on track and out of that ghost nonsence.
Caroline: I thought to be a cheerleader, you're supposed to have boobs, not a water bra.
Rebekah: I thought to be a whore, you're supposed to wear a short shirt with those elementary school braids.
You did forget to mention that this episode said nothing whatsoever about four charachters with the names of Tyler, Katherine, Rebekah, and the vampire-eating, vampire-killer vampire. They comepletely left out the cliffhangers from last week. And seriously, if Rebekah was determined to take over Carolines life and make her miserable like she was so determined to do last week, why was she nowhere to be seen? What, were she and Tyler passed out from too much drinking (hardy har har)? This episode definately didn't have the awesomeness that this entire season has had so far. WAY off their game on this one.
Okay, I will throw this out, maybe it hasn't been addressed or maybe since I'm five months pregnant my memory has temporarily gone kaput, but do we even know if Originals need an invitation? You know, since they can do things regular vamps cant?
As for Stefan, He is a LOT more fun with no humanity. i hope they don't bring it back too quickly. Because you know they will.
Rebekah...hmm...I've got to wonder WHY she cares about ruining Caroline's life. She's no threat to her, she knows that. I just don't get it.
And duh. Katherine is not dead. They'd never kill her off. It's too fun watching Nina play two characters. But you do have to wonder if, when Stfan was getting his blood let out of him by the witch and was told "you feel that, that's your essence, you lose that and you're dead." or something like that....It does make you wonder if a vampire losing all of their blood means theyre dead. Since blood is their life.
I did like how it was a throwback to the first episode of TVD, when Elena came out of the mens bathroom and bumps into Stefan.
And am I the only one wishing I was the one getting the whole "way to a vampire's heart" lesson from Damon??? No? I thought I wasn't. =) Whoo hoo! Bring on Delena! They've got SO much more heat than Stelena. Seriously. Who agrees? (I don't care who you ship, just tell me if they have more HEAT)
Okay, this episode was good, but full of holes. For one, HOW int the WORLD did they get LEGAL documents drawn up in the space of fifteen minutes to an hour or two, while never leaving the Waldorfs? I understand that they're royalty, but with how many pages and clauses there were, that would have taken HOURS.
It's not the only hole I found, but I don't have enough time to list them all, and I'm sure the round table will mention them tomorrow. Not the best episode, but better than last week's.
Ugh. How did I see this coming. He gets stronger and faster and cocky. Thus, he's going to act like he has testosterone poisoning. AKA being a dooshbag. But, I guess for a couple whose ship name sounds like the name of a town.....maybe they're not gonna be together forever. I just liked that we had one stable couple on every week. But, this is TVD, what else can we expect.
I wish Jenna was one of those coming back I really liked her and cried when she died. I want to know what would happen if she came back. But Lexie....what's she going to think about Stefan going back? "Ugh, again, Stefan? Bloodies Anonymous again with you!"
If I had to pick my least favorite episode from this season, although short....it's this one. So far, at least. ALL it was about was Dan's book. At least in the other episodes there were several things going on at once. This was DANS BOOK, with the little sideline about Charlie/Ivy. The rest? either Dan's book or things being ruined BECAUSE of Dan's book. BORING. At least in my opinion. He's never been one of my favorite characters, and I don't really like his frontrunner-ness in this episode. This wasn't a very scandalous or intreguing episode at all. Now, the next episode, I'm not sure I'll be able to say the same. I, as well as all of the rest of us, are dying to see for ourselves exactly what is in that envelope, be it what Blair has been preaching all along, or if it's actually Chuuck's baby. B does have a tendancy to try to convince herself that the world will go her way, and if she can get other people to believe that, then she will, and I think that's what she's doing. She was too scared to lose everything she built with Louis that she deluded herself into thinking the test was wrong, and so THAT's the way it will be, unless someone finds otherwise. Only time will tell if my suspicions are right or not, but it has Blair written all over it. Like Dan's book.
okay, i was on the edge of my seat the entire episode. LOVED IT. I agree with Rose Cardoso, the fact that matt was brought back to life the NORMAL way instead of with magic, so how can he see vicki while he's alive? I mean i can see when he was technically dead, because people do see stuff when they're dead, but who sees dead people when theyre alive? i understand it's a fictional show, but still....alaric has died, and he's not seeing dead people.
as for the vampire vampire-hunter....weirdness. not sure what else to say about that.
rebecca...love her. love her witty snotty remarks.
and uhm.....katherine...in one of the flashbacks....wereent you THERE???? wth???
I've been waiting to see when Louis' bad side to come out. How will BLAIR react to him taking a page out of her book? And using it on Chuck? It'll be very interesting. Maybe he's going to find out how far along Blair is, and calculate it back to a night when he and blair weren't together. The Bar Mitzvah night, perhaps? Who knows. Just throwing an idea out there, prolly has a lot of flaws.
Okay, so. About Blair. I seriously think that she lied to Chuck. Not only did that scene with her hiding the envelope give it away (although she could have hid it so that Louie wouldn't think she had cheated on him, so she HAD to know who the father was. Although she could have shown it to him and said she had it done so that noone else, like the press, could question paternity. I go with the latter as the better choice.) But the reason I think she lied: She didn't want to complicate things. She let Chuck go. Chuck let her go. If she told him it was really his....what were they supposed to do? And telling Louie...that would be the scariest thing in the world to her. Step in her shoes and think about it.
Now, as for the whole book thing....I think it's kindof boring. Along with the Nate plus sex-crazed-social-destroyer-crazy-ass woman storyline. It's just boring, and you already know what's going to happen. You can predict it. I'm not looking forward to next weeks episode if it's only going to be about the book. Who cares, really? They aren't named by actual names, and Dan obviously made some of it up. So who cares? Get over it.
Leighton/Blair is definately carrying the season, because it's the only interesting storyline. I'm loving her quips, especially about Dan looking like a Muppet. Ivy isn't interesting anymore, I've said my piece about the book and Nate. Chuck...I want to know what he's going to do. You know his heart is broken. And he obviously didn't let go of Blair in his heart. Blair probablly thinks he did, and just wanted to protect him. Like she said, she didn't think a baby Bass was in the plan for him. I think out of the two possible fathers, Chuck was the more dangerous choice, because she had no clue how he would react, where I think subconsciously she knew Louie would either be okay with it or at least be lukewarm. Chuck is the more dangerous choice. But I believe it would have been the right one. But who ever makes the right choice on Gossip Girl?
And...we already knew that she's crazy...and that Nate is the thickest person on the planet.....I'm waiting to see when he will wake the hell up and realize that he's climbing all over her because of one (now two) good sexcapades....She can't be THAT good....seriously, Nate.....
Okay, for one, they should make a spinoff just on the '20s flashbacks. I would totally watch it. Very very good. And I'm a little obsessed with the 20s anyways.
Very glad Bonnie's coming back. I'm getting tired of seeing her character abused. Only used when needed, then just disappearing at random with no explanation. Kat is a really good actress, and I want to see more. She was a main character in season 1, and then in season 2 she came as a badass witch, which was AWESOME....and then she just dropped off the face of the earth?
The Jeremy thing is plain creepy...I'm still waiting to see what happens. But how does he know he can trust Anna? Maybe it's Vicki he can really trust, and Anna is just trying to stop Vicki...Just speculation, theres not enough to actualy come up with anything.
Elena's friends questioning her about Damon...I'm going to assume it's because of his obvious feelings for her. If so....ABOUT DAMN TIME, thats all i have to say.
Klaus questioning his sister about the necklace....well you didn't expect him to just say "Okay, its gone, lets go find it!" without asking his sister if she remembers anything and why it's so important to get it, why they cant use anything else.
What, am I not entitled to an opinion just because I like Gossip Girl? How immature is that. Maybe YOU need a life if all you have to do is bash people who like more than just one show.
I am really impressed with how well SMG is carrying two characters. When I first started watching this show, I thought it would be a grown-up version of The Lying Game on ABC Family. Now I see it's completely different, and SMG does it perfect. With this episode, my jaw dropped. The ending....wow. Can't say i expected the secret to be out THAT soon.
One little thing I saw wrong...the detective can't really go through her phone and use any of that as evidence. He has no search warrant, and he has no right to be there. Why does she not call the police and say "listen, this detective is stalking me and coming into my home with no warrants." That'll get him in trouble and throw him off her back for at least a little while. And what happened to the guys wanting the cell phone and whatnot? Is that just going to be dropped????
arwenkstar, I do agree with you. This show is on the same channel as Gossip Girl, and it would get a little old seeing the same type of thing happening in two shows on the same network. Yet another reason why I just don't see it happening. It just doesn't feel right. And, another valid point about the ratings. If they took the cue from Gossip Girl, they wouldn't, because it probablly would drop their ratings, especially since, like I said, it would be a little old seeing the same thing happening on two different shows...Very good points.
I don't get why everyone's saying 'don't make it too Twilight". Okay, I think theyve made it VERY clear that this is NOT Twilight. Just because they write in ONE little thing that happened in the Twilight series does NOT make it 'like Twilight". So get over yourselves, you stupid Twilight-haters. Noone cares.
I'm not sure how I feel about a baby. I just don't see it between them. You can totally tell the Tyler has MAJOR feelings for Caroline, and vice versa....but still....it just doesnt feel right. Who knows, it's a toss up for me.
Hmmm. Very interesting. I hope Nate gets the chance to stand up for Serena again, he was so sexy when he did that. I hope Nate gets out of his obsession with this Diana. It's pathetic seeing him crawl around like a lovestruck puppy just because of some good sex. As for Tripp...who knows why he's back? I think that since Serena has not guy around, Tripp might try to woo her a bit. It'll be interesting to see how he shakes things up. If he does, anyways.
okay, so....my main concern is Blair. If her symptoms are that bad (which they can be. I know, I'm four months along myself) then she's not going to be able to hide it from everyone for long. And she's so skinny that she's going to show a lot earlier than someone who has a little meat on her bones already - but this is Gossip Girl, what character, even minor, has ever looked more than 120? I'm seriously going to believe it's Chuck's. The fact that I'm a Chair fan has nothing to do with it - it's the fact that a prince would have better sence than to have sex, apparently tons and tons of times, without ensuring protection. He isn't going to want little bastard children running around, and he's obviously concerned about how Blair looks in the public eye, so he wouldn't want her getting 'with child' before the wedding bed has even been slept in once.
Chuck - I'm highly concerned about him. If by chance the baby isn't his, and he finds out, it's going to be the end of him. For good. (Yet another reason it has to be Chuck's.) And if it is his...he's going to have to snap back to his sences quick fast and in a hurry, because Blair is going to be so devestated about losing her dreams that the stress could potentially cause problems with the pregnancy. I don't like what he's doing to himself and I hope he does follow through and get help. His brain was definately working fine tonight. "Unlike Serena, when I told you to go away, I meant it." Classic Chuck, and I love love loved it.
Ivy/Charlie. SO UNBELIEVEABLE. You're telling me someone who came up with that whole scheme last year couldn't get out of town in time? She couldn't just tell Serena "No, look, I can't leave. I have responsibilities that I can't just walk out on. Not like you'd know ANYTHING about that, though, right?" Honestly? It's a definate plot hole just to get her back to the UES.
And Serena, are you really that stupid? She tried to ditch you ten times, and you still kept hanging on like a lovesick ex.
And the all-of-a-sudden "oh, my manager just so happens to be moving the whole thing to New York, so I don't have to spend the entire fifth season in Cali" thing....that's almost as unbelieveable.
So, this episode was a 50/50 for me. What was good was really really good...and what was bad....sucked. Three cheers for Leighton, I completely agree that her acting tonight was top notch.
