This is a little more like the Wade we were after... that truly really likes... maybe even *cough* loves Zoe? :) But I honestly think Wade is far more clued up then some of the writers write him. One of my pet peeves with Hart of Dixie is the lack of character consistency. I wish all the writers had character profiles they could refer back to and with every new piece of information about a character - it's jotted down and held true by every other writer. Some episodes Wade is written as a complete fool which he's of course not perfect (it's what we love about him) but it can be taken to a whole other level whilst there's been several scenes where he's then written to be far more clued up and capable of intense emotions. Anyway, overall I really enjoyed the episode and that last scene knocked it out of the park. Also, I believe the next episode is about Zoe trying to win a date with Wade and she apparently has far more competition than she expected ...or something like that. So, I think Wade's going to back off and Zoe's going to have her light bulb moment about him. Maybe…
I completely agree with you Sandy. 1) I miss Shelly and Wade scenes, 2) I've held off saying anything about Ruby because I wanted to see where the character went but this past week she was just flat out irritating, and 3) I'm also missing the sweetness between Wade and Zoe that seems to have been thrown out the window (although they continue to be the main reason I return to watch the show).
Also, Crazy Earl leading the teens flash mob was just all kinds of messed up. He's Wade's alcoholic reclusive father, who needs to be sung off a roof top once a month (which by the way is completely forgotten about along with any hope for a scene with Burt Reynolds) so to see the character thrown under the bus by trying to lead a flash mob which he would've had to attend classes to learn the choreography for and also intertwine the long term effects of alcoholism into the choreography by stumbling was cringe worthy. I just think he's such an interesting character on the show and it was painful to see him screwed over by a terrible writing choice.
Yeah I actually enjoyed this episode. Thank god because the other week was one of the worst. The mypad was hilarious and personally the Barns/Homer and the Bart/Homer/Lion scenes were laugh out loud funny :D
"Nothing in tonight's episode was as amusing as remembering those past episodes" - true. Lately the show hasn't been all that but I loved the moments where past episodes were acknowledged. The photo's on the wall of the Barbershop Quartet, Homer's bowling team, and the mentioned Paul McCartney episode.
Oooo I could be totally wrong but there's an upcoming ep called "Blue Christmas" and as the song goes "I'll have a blue Christmas without you" maybe... Zoe is heading home to New York and Wade decides to fly to be with her. Alright they're not exactly conquering a whole lot but it sounds good to me. Again, I could also be TOTALLY wrong so I'll stop...
Yep good work... reading all the other comments and come to mine to see 'concur' - I of course meant 'conquer'. Please give us an edit post function TvFanatic. :)
Yeah, I don't know. It was an alright episode... nothing special. It was Zoe and Wade's few scenes that lifted it for me (although I did enjoy all the other characters and their moments too). The Lemon/Zoe/Wade shirt scene was just such a perfect early couple/not yet a proclaimed couple moment. Also Zoe's conversation with Wade in bed was interesting... she said something about couples who are meant to be can concur miles which I believe to be true so for me it was like alright - cue Zoe heading back to New York and Wade and her overcoming that hurdle to show how much they’ve fallen for each other. God knows… but it could be interesting.
I've talked about the possible adorableness that can come from a disastrous first date for those two so I can't wait for this upcoming date episode. Hopefully it's well written and the writer/s take advantage of its possibilities. :)
It had a few really great moments between Zoe and Wade but just like that, in one episode, I'm reminded that they'll never stray far from their sole focus of this show... :/
The most important spoiler of this weeks ep that wasn't included was "..they decide to conduct a sleep study, forcing her to cancel her big plans with Wade (Wilson Bethel)" - I want to know what the big plans are?? Those two are too cute.
"Gawd I loathe your character limits in here" LOL right there with you Lulu. It would be great if a (continued...) wasn't needed, left with a half cut sentence or a moment of ...what did I write again? :/
Completely agree wow - there's enough teams. Maybe he'll be a love interest for Lemon and not Zoe? I'm liking what's happening with Zoe and Wade - it's finally brought a nice balance to the show.
Also, the People's Choice voting - I voted but we don't have to register do we? I just click Hart of Dixie for 'FAVORITE NETWORK TV DRAMA' and cast the vote. Hopefully it works...
Personally, I swear the writers are now just having a competition between them with who can create the best first scene :D This is the third episode I have LOVED the start of!!
George's line was so cute "she keeps on sending me links to designer ties at incredibly reduced prices" :D and his continued little mission to find love (or some friendly acquaintances either way), it was good (just as long as Zoe isn't involved).
Zoe and Wade's storyline was perfection with her getting all feisty with wanting Wade to be monogamous. There were just too many fangirl moments for those two. Zoe’s Simba/Nala line, the date with Zoe further jealous, Wade whispering in her ear (yes, even that was cute), Wade working away on Zoe's house as she comes home and his moment with her against the wall - yes please ;)
Also, I loved the random townspeople we're now getting to see more of - Frank was such an odd one but I loved him. Lol and Dr Breeland telling Magnolia to take off with as much bbq as they can carry in order to feed themselves :D
This show just continues to get better and better - THANK YOU Hart of Dixie for stepping it up these past few episodes!!
Oh my god... Jen - that episode looks great! :D I want to talk about it but I don't want to give away anything to those who aren't wanting to know just yet.
I wish HoD at TVFanatic had a little 'spoilers' section or post or something for us.
This is for the Halloween episode but as soon as I read it I thought - need to share that with all the HoD lovers in TVFanatic :)
"Zoe (Rachel Bilson) begins to notice some odd occurrences happening in her home. She is shocked to discover that the culprit is George (Scott Porter), but she soon realizes that he may have a sleepwalking issue. Concerned for his safety, they decide to conduct a sleep study, forcing her to cancel her big plans with Wade (Wilson Bethel)" ....as soon as I saw "big plans" a smile came over my face :D ...maybe they were trying to go on a first date or one of them has invited the other as their date to a Halloween event? Hopefully they still get to it but I hope the writers also don't lose the hilarious and yet sweet opportunities their first date could have :)
(continued) As for Ruby, I'm with Drea - I think it's clear that she's a new character that's meant to be loathed and she's doing a great job at it, lol. Also Lemon and Anna-Beth on the houseboat was so sweet. I know the reviewer of this show continues to talk about liking the "lighter approach" to this season but I have to disagree - there needs to be a balance and they did that perfectly in this current episode.
Like last week, I LOVED this episode! Bethel's character Wade is finally starting to get written like he was last season. There's way too many YouTube video's out there with Wade showing us on multiple occasions that he's a good guy (sings his alcoholic father off the roof once a month, has dreams he wants to accomplish, the longing looks and sweet gestures toward Zoe, etc.) to be written the way he was in ep one. Anyway, loved this episode from the moment Zoe clarified to Lavon she wouldn't represent her time of the month with an 'A' on the calendar :D ... to Zoe and Wade visiting his dad - BEST SCENE!!
Loved Wade's speech to Zoe too - so well said and something he helped Zoe click onto this ep. Their whole storyline tonight was great in my opinion. I read a spoiler though that Zoe and Wade do the same sort of thing that George and Lemon did tonight (jealousy/dates) so I'm not sure about that but hopefully it will lead Zoe to clicking onto how much she clearly really likes Wade.

Anyway, what I did think was great to see was Wade giving Zoe a wink and seeing her past the group of girls flocking to him. It reminded me of all those sweet moments last season between them. I'm still hoping the writers have fun with their date nights and things because neither of them are all that romantic so they'd be hilarious. Also, just reading your comment ‘Wow’ – “I think we all were expecting much more mature characters” … completely agree and unfortunately, a bit of a spoiler - it says in episode four Zoe is still trying to keep things casual with Wade but she gets jealous when she sees him with another woman and decides to play at the same game…
I honestly think it's going to take something far greater for those two to realize how much they actually mean to each other more than say what Zoe wants George to mean to her.
@Jonas - I'm pretty sure this is Leila Gerstein's baby that Josh and Stephanie have left her with but throw in a meeting or two about it. Lol, who knows... but I love this idea for a show Leila has come up with. What I'm not so keen on is her writing - she did a pretty good job on the pilot (I mean it drew me in) and then I guess last season’s finale but writing the characters in-between, she seems to take a severe stand with them (e.g. tweaking Wade last week to be nothing more than heavily obnoxious and annoying, Zoe pining for George - New Orleans anyone (and every other episode she wrote)? Also the terrible character and storylines that surrounded Judson...). Also completely agree with ‘Wow’ and ‘Zoe/Wade Fan’ that Wade’s character recently just hasn’t matched everything ‘Zoe/Wade Fan’ said.
