Are you fucking kidding me? I thought they were bringing back Elijah, so I figured I should catch up on the last few episodes... and they're giving us a Damon flashback instead? Oh hell no. I'm over this shit.
YES! Looks like there's some hope for this spinoff after all! I'll certainly watch it, at least the pilot. Thank god Daniel is finally getting some appreciation for his work.
I think my heart might actually have stopped when Belle got shot. That scene by the border was tense enough without something like that happening! And then a car. Bloody hell. It's been ten minutes, I'm still reeling in shock. Take notice, all other shows, this is how proper cliffhangers are done.
I'd love to see more of Elijah, and the others would be a bonus(if Klaus would stop crying) but what exactly would this show be about? The Originals are ridiculously powerful, impossible to kill and ancient. They work as antagonists, vague threats(remember how exciting Klaus and Elijah were in season 2!), but to make a show all about them? They would have to make them emotionally vulnerable, but ugh, there is no way I'm watching a show about four angsty serial killers having messy lovelives, no matter how sexy they are.
Feels like I'm the only one who couldn't stand this episode... the Doctor was behaving thoroughly out of character. His attitude goes against everything we've ever seen in the past 50 years, and without a proper explanation other than "the universe was mean to me" it just fell flat, and if I can't enjoy the Doctor, I just can't enjoy the episode. Not Matt Smith's fault, mind: he did a great job with what he was given, but even his awkwardness couldn't save this trainwreck.
I'd feel a lot better for Elijah absence if the writers actually bothered to come up with a reason for him being MIA. When he got daggered in season 2, there was a reason for him to be gone. It served the plot, kept the pace up. And when he returned, it was gamechanger and kinda huge, but not HYPE! THIS IS GONNA BE EPIC!! huge. I liked that.
Now, on the other hand, they've reduced him to being little more than fanservice. And the worst is that they didn't have to, he could have had a bunch of great storylines back in s3 or this season - I remember thinking that the reason for him being in 3x22 was that they needed him to be in town so that he could bring Klaus back or try and destroy the stake - but no, let's not bring him back for anything other than painfully obvious fanservice.
Remember the girls from season 1? Girls plural, not just Caroline. Go watch "A Few Good Men" if you need proof - he says, and I quote, "(the girls) will end up in their dorm with headaches, thinking they blacked out. Business as usual." That's a direct quote.
Still think he's not a rapist? Uh, Sage begs to differ. "Those are the women who secretly crave seduction. They'll put up a good fight," blah blah, Damon asks what to do if the ladies say no - "You take it." And sure enough, just a few minutes later we see him do just that!
I could keep on giving examples to just how sick and misogynist this show and Damon is, but I think I've made my point with these two... there's no getting away from it. At least one of the main three characters is a serial rapist, and the writers aren't even trying to cover it up.
@Ilk-Vomit oh yes, me too. Sure, it's nice with something new, but "I live here." "And I!" "Yeah, me too." is just too cheesy. And LOL to Elena referring to vampire hunters as mean people out to kill nice vampires like her.
I think this was perhaps the best episode of the season yet, but it's only good by TVD standars, there were still so many things bothering me, mostly Hailey. They're seriously making Tyler out to be a cheating, lying ass now just to prop up Klaroline? This is what happens in fanfiction, Plec, bad fanfiction. If you wanna break up Forwood to make your fangirl dreams come true, then please, make them break up for a reason!

Hey guys! We're hurting Julie Plec's feelings! We should all stop expressing our own honest opinions and praise this amazing show, and its incredible writer. Debate and constructive criticism is a pathetic cry for attention. Shame on us all!
Please. Mikael and Esther were protecting their children too, weren't they? And Bill, and John, even Giuseppe... 'protective' parents is nothing new. Especially when they're four seasons late!
I think the problem with this episode is that they're bringing in the hunters way too early. I mean, this episode is the episode where the show's main character is going to have to choose between death or being a vampire. And as boring and cardboard as Elena may be, this episode should have been focused on just that - what will she choose? Does she regret saving Matt? And how do the others around her react? This could really have been a great episode, if they could for once just focus on the characters, not all the action and villains.
But nope! Instead we not only get Bonnie trying to reverse the whole thing, which is pointless because she's gonna fail and it just makes Elena even more of a Mary-Sue, but we also get vampire hunters randomly appearing out of nowhere, cheap action, taking all the focus away from our main cast. So, yeah. This episode is gonna suck.
