I'm fine with her having kept Elijah around in season 2 and made him much more relevant to the story, in fact I'm eternally grateful, because Daniel Gillies is too great to just be killed off after a few episodes.
But no matter how skilled Morgan is, he's had his time in the sun - too much time, if you ask me - and yet she keeps coming up with crappy plot 'twists' we all saw coming to keep him alive. Him having a 'story to tell' is just a silly excuse. He's had the whole season to tell stories, so why should he get this second chance when so many other great characters who didn't even get an anecdote had to die? It's really depressing when such a (formerly) great show like the vampire diaries has to go straight to hell because the producer is a shameless fangirl.

just really irks me. What wold be great would be if they made Alex actually move on and fall in love with someone else, and that's when he wakes up. I suppose we'll just have to wait and see.
P.S. what is wrong with the lights? It's all so weird and wrong, it ruins the set. They'd better fix this, because I can't properly appreciate DG's godly hotness when he's blue.
Aside from that, I really think this show could do without Charlie. And that's bad, because this is only the second episode and I've already grown tired of the main character. But he's just so cheesy, and aside from talking to dead people and looking at Alex, he's got nothing to do. I hope he wakes up soon, because he does seem like an interesting person, but having a ghost walking about copying Meredith Grey's monologues just really irks me. What would be great was if Alex actually moved on and fell in love with someone else, and that's when he woke up.
@Amie I agree that Daniel and Joseph are among the best actors in the show, but you've got to give some credit to the others. Nina was an amazing Katherine, Paul breaks my heart, and Matt Davis has had so many faces, vengeful husband, friendly alcoholic, Klaus!Alaric, Evil!Alaric, I'm gonna watch Cult just for him.
That being said, the others aren't terrible - they're just not as good. Ian's eyes makes me want to strangle something.
I like how this show's heroine and main character needed three seasons and fangs to hopefully become kinda badass. That really does say a lot about Elena, doesn't it?
