To Amanda: You seriously named your children after Booth & Brennan? Wow, that is devotion to your show. And here I thought I was a hard-core fan. Kudos to you.
I absolutely loved this premier! B&B are back! That was definitely worth the wait.
B&B were so sweet together, but still "real" - still the same people. It will be very interesting to see how they work out their philosophical differences to raise their baby together.
Speaking of babies, could baby Hodgins have been any cuter?! I just want to pinch those little cheeks! Jack & Angela are terrific parents.
The case was a bit of a let down. As soon as I saw that psychologist smacking his gum, I knew he was the killer. But let's face it: no one was watching for the case this time. I do hope the producers/writers can find a balance between the actual cases and the characters' personal lives.
Favorite scene: I'm with Jim. The concurrent conversations between Kate & her therapist and Castle and his mom. Seemless, and revealing. I also liked the argument after the kiss. I'm with Castle on that argument - he only kissed Serena to distract her - like Kate told him to! Did anyone else see the similarities in the way he grabbed Serena to kiss her and the way he grabbed Kate last season?
Martha's meddling: Any mom would want her child to be happy. And while he's not with Kate, Castle is not happy. It would be foolish of her to try to persuade him to forget Kate entirely, but she doesn't want to see him put his whole life on hold.
Kate's mixed signals: It didn't seem like Serena was getting any mixed signals. She could tell right away what is going on with Kate about Castle. She did seem to send mixed signals to Castle: she told him to take Serena out, then got mad when they kissed, then told him it was up to him whether to pursue a relationship with Serena.
I think she's more afraid that Castle won't wait for her. If she were afraid that he will wait, she wouldn't have been as upset about Serena.
Esposito a shipper: Definitely yes! He's been nudging them together since way back when she was dating Det. Demming. Lainey has been a shipper since the very first episode! And Ryan would be more of a shipper too, I think, if he weren't focused on his own relationship. As far as the Captain, I have no idea if she's a "closet shipper" as Jim suggested. I have yet to see her display any positive or pleasant personality trait at all.
I agree with these other posters. I am slavishly devoted to Bones, but even I have to say that it took WAY too long for B&B to get together. I would hate for the same thing to happen with Castle & Beckett. He has clearly declared himself to Kate, and it would just be wrong for him to date someone else. Let him wait for her to catch up. Then it will be magical!
I don't know if I can handle waiting until November for the premier, but at least I'll have Castle in September to help tide me over!
I understand why they are picking up the story so late in the pregnancy, but I hope they'll find a way to flash back to Booth/Brennan in the early part of the pregnancy, telling their friends and Brennan's dad about the baby, and everyone's reactions.
Booth & Brennan are so cute together, and their baby will be too adorable for words! I hope it's a girl! :)
My husband & I have been looking forward to this premier for a while. We were satisfied with it. I'm just happy to see Ryan Cartwright on TV again - and still a squint, sort of. The character of Bill did get kind of irritating after a while.
We will definitely keep this one on our watch list.
Castle RULES! Nathan Fillion has always been awesome!
I thought it was great! The bowling alley scenes were hilarious (although I wanted to punch that obnoxious little redhead!). My quibbles would be these:
1. The wrapping up of the case was lame (the shoe guy killed the vic because his feet stank?) Although, I recognize that this particular episode had little to do with the case at hand.
2. I agree with other posters about the lack of any kind of demonstration from Booth/Brennan that anything substantial has changed between them. I understand being discreet, but couldn't they at least have held hands while they were walking together in that last scene? Definitely NOT looking for full-on sex scenes, just hand-holding, significant glances - something!
I first started watching Bones in Season 4, and after getting all caught up on earlier seasons on DVD, I haven't missed a single episode. I will definitely keep tuning in next year to see how all this plays out. I can almost hear the Jeffersonian team shouting "FINALLY!" when they hear the baby news. :)
All I can say is wow. That was amazing! All week I'd been worried about Caroline. But as soon as I saw Mr. Nigel-Murray come into the diner, I knew it would be him. Even tought I saw it coming, and have said before I could live without him, I was on pins & needles the whole time!
They really handled the shooting very well. I loved them singing his favorite song as they put his body in the hearse, and remembering the facts he'd shared with them.
I really wish the camera had stayed on Bones & Angela's conversation, instead of following Hodgins to Cam's office. I personally don't think anything happened between B&B. She cried herself to sleep on his shoulder & that's all. I think the smile is because she liked the feeling of being wrapped in his arms (and with DB's arms, who wouldn't).
Next week's finale looks like it will a good emotional counter-balance to this week's. Undercover cases are always fun, and Max is great, too.
PS to Matthew: What are you talking about? Get rid of Cam & bring Dr. Goodman back?! Dr. Goodman was so stiff & boring. He has no personality to speak of. It's no wonder he & Hodgins didn't get along! Plus he was dismissive of Zack, and that's not cool. Cam is awesome. She's smart, beautiful, & sassy. Plus, like Zack said, "It's handy having a pathologist in the building." An archaeoligist/museum administrator can't really add that much to the team.
IF Booth & Brennan get together & she gets pregnant, I don't think Booth would be content to "parent together" with her. He already has a baby-mama (Rebecca). He wants to get married.
The development of their relationship (marriage? no marriage? family? Brennan & Parker, etc.) provides many opportunities for great story-telling. Come on, Hart Hanson, let's get them going!
