More shallow end: Nice to see Jane is still wearing the socks. Though they might be getting a bit stinky by now I'm thinking. What say you, Entwife? 😉
Diving into the shallow end here. Amanda Righetti is a beautiful woman. Her hair is beautiful. But the fringe and big waves overwhelm, remind me of a sheepdog and leave me asking: where is Amanda?
Great review as ever Christine. Thank you.
Happy 2014 to all!
Three days until Bruno & Co. serve us up some more Mentalist 2.0. Looking forward to it.
Hello Bonaduz! It sounds like you had a lovely Christmas. Here too: weather similar and lots of family around. Happy 2014 to you, yours and everyone on this board.
Nicely done, Round Table! You are a fun bunch. Hair porn indeed. (Patrick, no contest: a very good look for him.)
Favourite scene was the reunion although the letter writing and voice over was beautifully done. And I really liked Jane on the car ride in from the airport. That was quite lovely and an unusual perspective.
Jane's gonna work his way around the FBI and their stuffiness I have now doubt. They will hate him at first but in the end his winning ways will out. Looking forward to the culture clash.
Working with Lisbon was the sine qua non of Jane returning from exile. She is the most important person in the world for him. Simple as that. He missed her and loves her. It was time to get back to that. He had no time to discuss it with her but that's never stopped him before. He'll figure out how to convince Lisbon how fun this is going to be.
The letters pleasantly surprised me but on reflection they are so Jane. Old school, charming -- and really romantic.
I think Jane has it in the bag with Abbott. Something transpired between Jane and the hotel guy just before Jane got onto that bus to leave the hotel. I don't know what was said, but it looked like Jane got something he wanted and I'll bet it gives him the napkin deal. He was very sure of himself in that meeting with Abbott, Fischer and Lisbon. Still smiling at that scene. It made me happy.
Great review again Christine.
At the risk of jumping on the bandwagon, I'll say I also loved the episode. It really did exceed all expectations for me. Fantastic transition. Great work by Simon Baker and the gang. Looking forward to more TM 2.0. This really is going to be fun.
And - HA! - Lisbon on the couch with Jane's letters. I totally called it. Just sayin' ;) (Because that almost never happens.)
And now for something completely different:
I really look forward to the journey Bruno Heller & Co. have in store for us in the post Red John world aka The Mentalist 2.0. "My Blue Heaven" will be here in a few short hours. Bring it Bruno!
My 1st of December wish for those of you in the US: no feckin' football delays.
Maybe I am overly sensitive Ani, but I have found that reading this board has been a downer recently. Simple as that. People are snarking at each other for opinions and ideas and I don't care for that. That's the long and the short of it. I can't cite any specific examples and don't want to look for them.
I'm game as long as discourse is not confrontational or personal but I haven't found that has always been the case in the past couple of weeks.
Suffice it to say, I don't need the aggro. Hoping we can revert to respectful discussion as the season progresses.
I don't think it is necessarily ignorance that leads to bliss. For me, it is a willing suspension of disbelief in light of the fact that the TM world is a fictitious one. I count myself in the obsessed viewer category, to my chagrin actually. I just choose to look beyond loose ends and apparent inconsistencies to enjoy the larger experience, the characters and the show as a whole. I am alive to the fact that TM isn't perfect, but the plot holes - the details - don't bother me.
In the world of network TV, TM is as rich and satisfying as it gets, at least for me.
And as with Ani, I enjoy reading what you have to say jsyk.
