I enjoyed this epi a lot. It had a White Collar flare to it (love, love Mozzie) as well as some Thomas Crown Affair! It was well written with just the right amount of intrigue (and some great music as well) to keep you guessing. Sorry but I didn't miss Danny at all - it was an enjoyable snark and sarcasm free epi (Scott was at his book signing in LA) and it seemed that everyone had a good time with this one. Chin and Kono were excellent and and I loved that Chin wore Vincent's glasses - epic move on the writers part. And we finally got some much needed McGrover time. How Jerry got to be so tech savvy is another story but at least he's not annoying like Pua and helped save the day. I didn't feel any chemistry between Steve and Nicole at all though. All in all a great episode which is definitely re-watch worthy. 2 great ones in a row! Can't wait for next week!
I think Harry would be a nice asset on occasion! I wasn't a Cath fan but also feel it's way to soon for a relationship, even just as friends. I'm on the fence with Ellie but have a feeling tptb are making her into a female Steve, boxing, fishing, fixing cars. Not to say women don't enjoy these pastimes but... I'd love to see a girly girl on 5-0, manis/pedis, spas/massages, haircuts, SHOPPING! The antithesis of all the high-flying testosterone! I'm sure she would be a welcomed diversion for Steve!
I enjoyed this episode. Steve was front and center and was Steve, not the silly caricature that the writers have been making him into lately. The writers did a great job (even though the cast of characters was large enough to rival a Hollywood epic) and hope they stay this course. I like Ellie but hope they don't force a relationship between them - you know, once bitten, twice shy. I liked the VoiceOver - I miss Moonlight and Mick desperately - and hope they bring back Harry - he was a great asset to them. 2 more new episodes to come, hope they're as good as this one!
I guess we'll need to add Michael to the ever-growing cast of recurring characters. At least he's nice to look at! Hopefully he can replace Pua - who's character has grown old, tiring and obnoxious quickly.
Very emotional episode though I think I've had enough of Steve being tortured. It was very hard to watch. Alex completely owned this epi - brilliant acting on his part. His tear-filled eyes and his voice breaking when Danny told him that his dead has been dead for 4 years. I cried with him. Isn't it funny how Doris's mothering skills produced such very different results. One as low, base and despicable as herself and the other a caring, loving, upstanding man. Her actions ruined 4 peoples lives. 2 dead because of her lack of foresight. Steve had to kill WoFat in order to finally get the closure and peace he so deserves. It was either kill or be killed. How fitting for Danny and Chin to help Steve and Kono and Lou pro protect him. Kudos to the crew for an excellent episode and to the cast for outstanding acting. The montage and the song were a perfect ending for such a phenomenal episode.
I enjoyed this episode a lot. Very different than the usual shoot-em-up COTW. Excellent acting by Alex, who's sorely underrated in the industry. Slowly, Steve is getting some much need closure. There's a lot of hype swirling around Ellie. They did seem intrigued with each other and actually had chemistry. Kindred spirits, they both had something to offer the other. Will she become something more than a friend? Maybe, hopefully. Done right, I think it'd work. What I like most about the show is the ohana feeling. And it was there in spades! I was very happy to see the team rally round Steve and help him.
It was ok. 3 episodes in and I'm still waiting for the team feel to kick in. I like Grover but in a regular role he's blah. Jerry is already wearing out his welcome. And as long as Danny's brother goes away forever after this long, boring, dragged out storyline I can almost ignore it. There are so many people and storylines that I'm losing interest rapidly. It's way to convoluted. It always nice to see Kono be a badass, but what happened to Chin? And really, Steve the braun and Danny the brains. Don't think so. Without McG there is no H50. Really wish the writing was as consistent as with NCIS and Blue Bloods. It's early and I'm still hoping and praying for a major comeback. This is not the show that I fell in love with.
I enjoyed this episode. It had a definite s1 feel to it which gives me a lot of hope for a great s5! I agree with your points. Poor Jason, he broke my heart too. Given good writing, these guys shine and Alex and Scott shone brightly. It's so refreshing to see Scott act instead of whine (I know it's how he's written, but 5 seasons in, it's worn thin). I do wish they'd use Daniel and Grace for meatier scenes, but the season is young! All-in-all a very good episode.
It was a very good episode. Lots of growth for all the characters. I love the fact that Danny is a bit jealous of the growing relationship between Steve and Grover. Don't worry Danno, you'll always be 1st in Steve's life!! I started in tears and ended in tears! Uncle Steve hugs and Kono hugs!! After what seemed like forever, the team is back and the ohana was thru the roof! Love this show!
@Michelle - Catherine didn't "quit" the Navy. Like Steve, she retired. They don't give award ceremonies to "quitters". I hope your child doesn't decide to retire without first getting your permission because you'll probably beat him/her to death because you won't have anything to admire.
