I liked the season overall, but I had to drop it down a grade because the writers kept Elena and Stefan apart long enough for her to actually fall for Damon, only to have her just ignore it and go back to Stefan in the end ...
I know Elena doesn't want to hurt either of them, but by waiting she is hurting both of them as well as herself.
She's already shown how well she can survive without Stefan. Not that she didn't/doesn't love him, BUT in the past while 1) Damon has promised never to leave her, at her request. 2) She has told Damon THEY would survive the loss of Stefan in their lives. and 3) She didn't know what she would do without Damon. She never made any proclamations like that to Stefan.
I also think that after this past season, to have Elena just crush Damon and go back to Stefan is going so backwards in the storyline.
It's very possible that Jeremy has been hanging out with Kol... He wouldn't have met him in Mystic Falls, because he left town before Elijah un-daggered him.
Owen made a committment to Cristina, and I don't really see him going back on that. I think they'll work it out. Heck, even after telling her he's moving out, he tries to save her from the van driving into the ER (WTF?) ...

Elena and Jeremy are biological cousins, their fathers are brothers. But, the Petrova line is carried through Elena's biological mother, Isobel.
I also do not think that Katherine would have killed Bill Forbes or tried to kill Alaric. She would've known about Alaric's ring, for one. Second, she wouldn't have known who the medical examiner is unless someone told her, nor do I think she would stake him.
It's weird because everyone thought she was dead. She didn't turn with the rest of her family, so she must've had vampire blood in her system when she died.
And just to clarify, a doppleganger is someone who looks like someone else, usually deisgned to torment their look-alike, so the original Petrova is technically NOT a doppleganger ...
I think that a weapon is too easy, if Klaus knew of something that could harm him he wouldn't cart it around in a sealed coffin for a millenium, he'd destroy it like they did with the white oak tree. Klaus sees witches as dispensible and we already know the Original witch is actually dead because she opened the gap from the "other side" to try and get rid of Elena.
I personally think the most obvious answer is ... the Petrova girl used in the binding of the curse. If Klaus was onto how to create vampires, he could have fed her blood if he knew her and wanted to turn her, whether or not he knew about the curse. Or, if the binding of the curse required Petrova blood, not sacrifice, he could have turner her afterward, and locked her in a coffin to dessicate as punishment.
But, I don't know if any of these are helpful in Klaus' demise, unless she's holding a branch of the white oak tree, that is.

And Elena, she got up all bewildered with absolutely no idea what had happened because no one had been able to fill her in on the plan.
