Got too wordy I guess on my post below...my cut off statement: Kevin would have needed total bed rest to give his back time to heal...not bench pressing like He-man. I think Joan's response was reasonable for a woman trying to protect her family. She doesn't have to have something in her own past to induce that reaction to that relapsing, drug addict, ex-con...then add in the pain of Roland keeping it from her & ignoring her concerns & feelings. In my opinion, she's the only one on the show being real. Go Joan (Wendy Davis)!!! Ok...I'll shut up now. Just disappointed in how this show is being handled.
I've been in the medical field for 20 yrs...I've worked a crap load of trauma as an X-ray & CT tech...& have EMT training. The way Denise handled the paratrooper stuck on the gun was ridiculous...he slammed into a tank with enough force to shove that gun through his shoulder by a foot or more. The first thing she did was grab his head to look into his eyes & check his level of consciousness.... With no consideration for possible c-spine injury or a closed head wound. BUT what really got me was when she had the same guy hold the flashlight for her to insert that chest tube into that doctor (who was not acting like a person with a pneumothorax).. At one point telling him to hold the light higher (with the injured arm) ...that man shouldn't have been conscious...or maybe even alive. Yes...ur dead on about Kevin. If they thought his paralysis might not be permanent it would be due to swelling around the spinal cord. The only chance for that to correct itself= total bed rest...no movement, much less bench pressing like He-man.
"plays her to perfection" ...sorry, typing too fast on my iPhone.
The one character that NEVER disappoints me is Joan...that woman kicks butt but retains her humanity showing u can be a leader, intelligent & still be a woman. U don't have to be like a man to be successful in this world! Wendy Davis ays her to perfection!!! What a strong & powerful character.
I don't think it will be difficult for them to wrap it up. Frank was shot, lost his spleen & back at work in two episodes. With their timeline I imagine Denise will be a surgeon in two more episodes. The only person not aging is Frank & Denise's daughter...with the six month bump in time, she should be around 19-20 months... She looks about 9-10 months. The show has gotten so odd... It used to be about the characters, now it's about writers who are losing these characters in these crappy plots. I could write better.
I almost quit watching this season. I got real tired of the Claudia Joy jealousy, paranoia bit with Jackie ... It seemed soap opera-ish, and beneath her character. I also do not understand why there is so much drama & unreal situations. They are losing the characters inside these ridiculous plots. I think Trevor should rethink the whole Army thing...take the job with Chase & have a spin-off with these two couples. Could be great...story line could be interesting with Trevor learning to adapt after the Army. Just get a new TJ...one that can act...poor kid. Work Gloria back in!
