I found her so selfish and everything was all about her.
Thats one of the reasons why I liked her in the books.
Book Elena was a selfish flawed realistic human being and the head bitch in charge, who disregarded those she did not care about and did not fear to use others to get what she wants, so to say. She was friggin ruthless and did not pull any punches and the book author balanced that nicely with her more caring side and her wish to protect people closest to her.
I also loved book Stefan because he was capable of being quite dark without any cheap excuses like the whole "ripper thing" of tv show. I can't stand damon and steffie of tv show on other hand.
Oh elena, why are you such an annoying character-less mess...
I LOVED you in the books and that Elena is still one of my favorite characters, but every second the bland caring miss cardboard tv show version is onscreen I want to throw things at my tv and wish hard for her to get dead or tortured.
How is it possible to ruin such a promising and unique and awesome female heroine into a completely utterly bland bella swan :[
Um after the episode they just gave us, I don't trust Julie Plec with Damon's birth and rebirth one bit. Kevin Williamson please come back and fix this.
I am not sure even he could help now. Considering he is apparently content with how Plec handles it and considering his current show, Secret Circle is not better than this...
Let's also not forget that KW is also capable of majorly failing at writing if we take his previous show, "The Hidden Palms" that even CW(EVEN CW) canceled mid season, as example.
Another flawless Mentalist episode. Gods, I love this show more and more with each week.
Hopefully nothing bad happens to Summer. One of the most awesome side characters on this show ever. EVER.
Also interesting development with Cho and painkillers. A bit cliched but lets see where they take it from here. ITs nice to see a different non-strict sid eof Cho too.
Unlike some other comments, I LOVE the red john storyline. Its one of the main things that separates this show from other procedurals. It connects everything and has that twin-peaksy feel to it. I love it. Mentalist without red john plotline, just would not be Mentalist.
Great for Mentalist. Easily one of THE best shows on tv right now.
The finder is also holding out okay, I guess. IT has some promise but does not fully use its full potential.
TVD should be lower. So far the s3 stroll of episodes has been seriously mediocre. I guess romance-hungry fangirls make the viewership somehow stable for now.
Loved this episode. One of the best episodes this show has ever had.
Amy Acker, even after all those years since angel the series ended, is still FABULOUSLY BEAUTIFUL and awesome. And yet again gets to play a tragic character.
There's not even one thing I would dislike about this episode. :3
I love this show but am concerned that this site is one of the few that doesn't request for civil comments or give us an opportunity to flag hurtful comments.
"this site" so far has been one of the most thoughtful and civil tvd fanbases on the net. Why? Because every opinion is welcome as long as that opinion is well argumented. Hurtful or offensive comments are always dealt with so far.
Let me say this: just because you do not like what someone things, it does not mean that person's opinion is somehow "lower" or suddenly hurtful and should disappear.
The tvd fanbase on this site lives on because everyone says what they think and backs it up with arguments. Thats called democracy.
I think it is awesome that TVD does these kind of episodes where we get to find out more about the main characters, so I do not really get why people complain about the flashbacks.
Thats because since S2, the show has been completely failing at flashbacks.
S1 flashbacks were awesome, I Agree.
S3 flashbacks so far are all full of plotholes, bring nothing new to the table and retcon something. Apart from S1 flashbacks all those flashbacks so far did more bad to the show and characters than good.
Betting that:
1). He will sleep with someone that episode too for no reason at all.
2). He will make some stupid irritating decision.
3). Ian will yet again do the eye-gouging try to act.
4). We won't learn anything new yet again just like it was with all of S3 so far...
Love your loyalty but have to disagree. Buffy like Batman can always be interpreted different.
Buffy is not Batman.
There's only one Joss Whedon. There's only one SMG. Thus there's only one Buffy and only one portrayal and only one interpretation. No one else can do justice to that character and should not try.
If it does not contain Whedon's writing and SMG's acting, then its not Buffy. Its something else, something inferior. That's all.
What was your favorite scene from the episode?
There was none, sadly. Dumber Damon decision: going after Kol, telling Elena he loves her or getting it on with Rebekah?
All of them. Damon makes no smart decisions, apparantly, Harder to believe: Esther wants to murder her own children, Elena and Caroline know how to do a centuries-old waltz or Matt lives in Mystic Falls with no health insurance?
Matt one.
If I lived in MF, I would surely insure my life and health. I would be a millionaire. Klaroline: Are you buying it at all?
Not even one bit. it makes no sense, writing wise and smells of trainwreck. Which newly awakened Original made a better first impression: Kol or Finn?
Finn has way better presence and looks fitting a vampire, however both characters were VERY generic thanks to subpar writing surrounding them.
They so ripped off True Blood with the magazine cover with the brothers and Elena.
Not surprising. Hardly anything is original in this show. Everything they either try to copy from Buffy and fail or take from some other popular thing.
Plus, the writers seem intent on shoving Klaroline down our throats. It came out of absolutely nowhere and suddenly Klaus is smitten with Caroline after meeting her just once. Or is that not the case? Does he spend his nights watching her sleep, a la Edward Cullen, or something? Seriously, what am I missing here?
OH GOD, THIS HAS SO MUCH TRUTH.
Except for last part. Damon and Stefan are the Edward Cullens of this show, complete with their own bland bella swan ;]
Whole DES triangle is the worst and weakest part of the show. Both the triangle itself and characters involved in it.
Elena does not deserve the title of "lead heroine character" because she is neither lead nor heroine nor character. She is a bland caring flawless mary sue cardboard.
LOL it is so funny how no one likes Elena anymore. finally. it took u 3 seasons to realize how afwul, self centric and boring she is. congratulation
I find it funny on how much it contrasts with S1 threads about this show lol.
Writers really messed up what was a promising show, especially messing up the leads :)
.if you hate the show so much than why do you still watch it??
Because Caroline is awesome. She is last bit of consistent good quality writing left in this show that held so much promise. And even now she is getting ruined by the whole klaus nonsense writers are pushing onto the show.
I agree with some of the commentors who said Elena is being selfish! She is becoming the female version of Katherine.
Except the show refuses to treat her and portray her this way. The show wants us to believe she is such an awesome person better than them all and such a caring one. The whole "becoming like Katherine" was what most of us expected to happen and it would be an interesting storyline IF ELENA HAD ANY SEMBLANCE OF CHARACTER. She has no flaws. She does not get called out on millions of bullshit she did. She has no character. She is Bella Swan of tv shows.
She does not. She does not change. Does not React. She is not a character. She is a mary sue, who, as show wants us to believe, makes jesus look like a hitler next to her.
So basically, business as usual and nothing new, nor anything of importance.
Also, can I cringe already at he "jealousy" plotline? What is this? A soap? I never cared about the DES triangle and I won't because neither of those three interest me as a characters(because they well, are not characters anymore...they are nothing).
I am still waiting for something to happen in this season that justifies this season's existence.
Are you kidding me about this episode being slow ....it is clearly leading to a grand season finally....when the show goes to fast people complain when the show goes to slow people complain
Thats because it does not matter on if show goes fast or slow. It still doe snot do anything with its characters, but advance the "plot of the season". No character development, no buildup, no atmosphere buildup. Thats the problem.
We literally have episodes filled with nothing. NOTHING important happened this season yet.
if you have nada good to say don't say it and watch Nikita instead!!!!!! DAHHHHH..
Why should we stop watching one legitimately bad CW show that rips off famous cult shows like Buffy and then start to watch even worse CW show that pretends to be one of legendary cult spy shows of century?
There is a pretty simple solution for you: Stop watching the show.
thats not how democracy works, kid. If everyone did that, there would be no constructive criticism.
And this show is in sore need of being criticized for its many faults.
Anyway... There wasn't much about this episode that I didn't like. I HATED Elena, for the answer she gave to Damon, BUT then again - This is EXACTLY what makes the show amazing!
So, wait, Elena being caring one-dimensional mary sue is what makes this show "amazing"? What?
Overall yet another episode that did nothing for storyline, nor character development(this show does not do character development). Season of The Fillers.

Cassidy Freeman on The Vampire Diaries: First Look!
Anyone wants to bet she gets to sleep with Damon?
ALso, color me NOT excited, considering on just how much these writers destroyed Klaus as character. They can't hype me on Sage now.
The Mentalist to Welcome Back Erica Flynn
This ought to be great.
