frankly the show could not get ANY MORE predictable, its already clear what happens in first ep:
- Elena whines for few seconds about this "totally" horrible situation she is in, then the rest of that time is spent on damon and steffie arguing and show making this whole situation all about them.
- Bonnie tries to un-turn Elena, fails, blah blah no one cares.
- The new random redshirt hunters rush the gilbert house, elena ends up chewing on leader and then continues to be a boring mary sue for the rest of the season.
Also, sorry show and show writers - if you expected the viewers TO FEEL ANYTHING AT ALL about Miss Cardboard dying or going through this stuff, you should have...oh I don't know, spent at least 5 minutes of screen time in those 66 episodes that already aired, DEVELOPING her into a relatable and complex character, like a lead character should be?
Sadly since that was not done and all the shock-therapy the turning could provide has been milked dry by everyone and their mothers(literally) turning into vampires, Elena does not evoke any more feelings than any other piece of furniture on the set.
Oh yay, more of Elena being an expressionless, helpless damsel in distress. Meh. Can't wait till they turn EVEN this into "all about love triangle". Hey, they ignored all the chances to develop her for three seasons already, why stop doing that now? The show will make it all about Steffie and Damon's reactions, yet again and Miss Cardboard, Bella Swan of tv shows will remain boring and character-less
And if thats Klaus in Tyler's body, the show has entered the new level of creepy and sick. Ew, just...eww. I mean, yeah, the show already ignored and excused two cases of Damon raping and abusing female character(first caroline, then andie), but now Klaus will commit a double rape? Oh yay, I am so glad I am done with this trainwreck.
Got to love how they are handling the selective amnesia storyline so far - less ship angst, more interesting plotlines and character growth. Its nice to see that it has multiple important purposes, apart from, well, angst.
The episode otherwise was AWESOME. Hank is becoming more and more likeable, Wu is getting more screentime and at the same time the main plotline is ALSO progressing alongside everything else, in style of David Greenwalt's previous shows.
For some reason I like how Elena looks on this photo, her hair I mean, cos really that needs to change, the girl needs a make-over ASAP!

Hopefully germy FINALLY bites it, I gues 452453245th time is the charm finally. His death has been 1-2 seasons overdue and now will generate absolutely no emotion.
That's the problem with all the "deaths" in this show - they do not matter, they have no consequences and no effect upon the show. And no one dies when they are killed for the first time...there's always something to resurrect them again and again till character becomes so bland and boring that even when the real death happens, no one gives a shit anymore.
I am also glad that Hank know the truth but now I wonder how can he see them I have an issue...how can Hank see the Wesen? I kind of thought that was a Grimm thing?
It might be that after a wessen willingly(or after completely loosing control) shows it, the human mind becomes "aware" of those shifts and can see even when they do it unwillingly.
And how can Nick sometimes be recognized and sometimes not?
this is something they will apparantly explore this season - how wessen recognize grimms and why they exactly are so fearful of them.
- I LOVE Hank's reaction to the truth. Now I do NOT expect that it will be all calm and nice and most likely Hank will be all maverick-y to Nick's "stable cop" now in terms of supernatural world, but its nice to see such an...unexpected and non-cliche reaction from him. Thank you,show.
- Juliette and Nick's storyline breaks my heart. Now I am pretty sure they will have to "rediscover" their love and that their first kiss will bring her memories back or something, possibly in the midst of plot involving Adalind.
- Possibly favorite scene of the episode - Renard's and Nick's cat and mouse game about Adalind's mother's death - both of them carefully picking what to say and what to reveal as known.
Actually, the part about Vikings in America is not very far-fetched at all. Go google Leiv Eriksson - he was a Norwegian Viking who went ashore in 'Vineland' - New Zealand.
I know that. But "Vineland" refers to isles on american shore ON THE SIDE OF ATLANTIC OCEAN.
California is on the VERY opposite part of the continent where Pacific Ocean is, its entirelly impossible for vikings and their level of preparedness to SURVIVE long enough to even reach that far in the land, what's with various native tribes and very different climate from what they were accustomed to. Reaching THE OTHER shore is so utterly impossible. Settling - even more so due to natives.
Like when Damon asked Liz to dig into Alaric's past in season 1 and she only found parking tickets? And she's a cop. But when Meredith pokes into it, she finds violence, restraining orders and some time in jail. Girl's got skills.
or how eastern european vampires suddenly become vikings who...somehow ended up settling in....in california....on the FRIGGIN OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE American continents than Europe is.
or how Elena's outright stated "i was out at the party without permission, got drunk made a huge scene and my parents had to get me back thus they died and i feel guilt" suddenly turned into a planned innocent school party.
Or how Katherine - the every-knowledgeable Klaus evader somehow decided to SETTLE IN in mystic falls all those years ago.
she shot Alaric, and he came back. Which means she's supernatural, so she's already in it.
watch it be retconed when writers write themselves into a corner again. The show already DIRECTLY contradicts itself in some MAJOR shit like Elena's own backstory(are we supposed to believe that Elena elena has a memory span of a hamster,so she does not even remember her own backstory correctly?) , Plec will most likely be banking on everyone having forgotten the shooting and will present some outrageously stupid explanation for that event that contradicts itself.
Even Bonnie's cousin who appeared in total of one episode and was there ENTIRELY for the sake of being a plot device, was more interesting than Melissa.
And yeah what show REALLY lacks is:
1) lasting consequences of ANY kind. As it is now, nothing really matters. you could cut out the entire S2 and S3 and have Elena turn in the end of S1 and NOTHING would change in the show. Nothing that ever happens has any lasting consequences.
2)lack of any sort of moral compass or moral dilemmas - the show logic in no way resembles earth logic. Everything is justificable for those "characters" as long as its for elena and none of reactions and decisions really make sense nor match up to the events at hand.
To be honest, the last "new" character I actually cared about that was introduced on TVD was Elijah back in season 2.
