It was meant to be that way: kind of cartoonish and whimsical. There's a difference between surrealistic cgi AND badly blended low budget cgi - its certainly case of latter and not former in this case. The creators of this show have proven on Once that they can do good enough CGIExcept that CGI was never really a "Strength" of OUAT. FTL stuff looks good enough but everything else is very...subpar. OUAT lives off great characters, subversion of expectations and deep plotline - something OUATiw so far lacks. 1. I don't like the Queen of Hearts casting. She is no Cora. How did she possibly get control? learn your lore. REd Queen =/= Queen of Hearts. One is a card. The other is a chesspiece. One is a psychopath with anger management issues. Other is bureaucratic mastermind. One is in one book. The other is in entirely other book. Can you differentiate card games from chess or do you play your poker with chesspieces?
Really torn between Agents of Shield, Sleepy HOllow and Blacklist as all of them are essentially masterpieces with greatest possible actors and intriguing and well put plotlines. Have to go with Blacklist, because James freaking SPader is BRILLIANT in his role and the female lead is competent, flawed and very interesting.
As for love triangles and all that stuff - I'd rather the show never ever evisited either of the points - nor Nathan's creepy gross "epic love" nor Duke's (relatively less creepy) obsession. Because that's what is destroying this show and has turned Nathan into a gross misogynistic stalker :/
Very MEH episode. 1. Audrey not being Lexie makes the whole "BARN IS DYING OMG" shit completely pointless. 2. The whole episode smelled like a huge objectification of the lead female with everyone planning shit for her without taking her agency into mind.3. They just made Nathan into a hypocrite. "No, I love Audrey" my ass - that did not stop you from getting your way with completely unaware Sarah, did it, you jerk?4. Newgirl is still annoyingly pointless mary sue. The fact that I still can't remember her name tells all. Now onto the good:1. E.Rose's acting is BRILLIANT. I want a show with her, Anna Torv, Tatiana MAslany and Enver Gjokaj as leads.2. Duke is the best developed character. We all know about his feelings for Audrey, but he is no longer the person he was in the pilot - he has grown so much. He is selfless, he is ready to pair up nathan and lexie for greater good, he feels sorry for paralyzed guy, he continuously puts his life on risk. Beautiful. As for love triangles and bullshit - I'd rather the show never ever evisited either of the points - nor Nathan's creepy gross "epic love" nor Duke's (relatively less creepy) obsession. Because that's what is destroying this show and has turned Nathan into a gross misogynistic stalker :/
Quite disappointed with this:- Overuse of bad CGI.- Disjointed frantic plot. With A LOT of cheese.- Logic-defying character decisions and stupidity. The only good parts seem to be Jaffar/Red Queen plotlines(even if both of them give off the vibe of power rangers villains right now, visually) and the fact that the whole thing( especially Alice’s character as they seem to be touching upon what being locked in freaking mental asylum does to you) seems to be HEAVILY inspired by Alice:Madness Returns. Otherwise, REALLY disappointed.
Emily already knows Adien killed Tekeda. Still does not stop them from having Aiden be the shooter and then getting stabbed with a katana through the guts in season finale. so whats so horrible he needs take her down Aiden has always been an obsessive controlling asshole, so no surprise there.
I need the redemption and repentance thing,I can NOT root for a sociopath and need someone to root for.The problem with that is that its the most cliched thing EVER. "redemption after revenge' is so tired out and the REASON this show got popular in the first place is because since day one it implied it would not go for that and Ems constantly went on with her revenge despite the moments where typical protagonist would stumble back to goodie-two-shoes route. The main point of interest of this show IS that Emily is a ruthless antihero.
Innocent people are getting caught in her crossfire and until this point, she's been unable to acknowledge that fact. I feel this is a plot inconsistency, as Ems had no problems with THOUSANDS of people loosing their jobs and money in the whole investor takedown in S1. She never really cared about "helping the innocent", so this change in motivation is incredibly jarring and strange for me.
I hope to gods Aiden is not double-agent. He is the most annoying and most NEEDLESS character in the show, so hopefully Ems finds out about him having killed Takeda and he gets a sword in his gut, because karma's a bitch. Episode gives me conflicting feelings. On one hand, its nice to see Ems get her hands dirty again instead of tip-toeing around her revenge plan like in S2. On other hand I fear we are going towards a cliched boring "redemption" bullshit. I hope I am wrong. I hope that evne if the whole redemption is on her mind, the whole boat shooting will set her back on revenge road again. because let's be frank - we watch this show for her being badass. The VERY FIRST thing the show taught us is that "this is not a story about forgiveness". SO please, writers, DON'T make it about forgiveness and repentance and all that silly bs.
Snowing troubles are quite obvious. Both of them have VERY big secrets hidden from each other - charming still does not know about the truth of his mother's death and its quite clear that Charming also has secrets that will come out in FTL flashbacks. Add to that Snow's own doubts about morality and all that good and evil stuff and Charming almost "filleting the mermaid" in front of her and you have a recipe for disaster.
