This episode didn't answer any of the questions. The guy needed someone he trusted who was famous enough that they wouldn't dare kill him and yet they kidnapped this famous person and he effectively disappeared from the face of the earth so what would it have mattered if they had also killed him? No one ever would have known what happened. There obviously was no good reason to ruin the wedding and after another whole season they couldn't come up with a reasonable explanation why they did it. As a fan I feel like I was kicked when they gave us the lame proposal. While I was down they decided to to really kick me hard when the beautiful wedding they had set up was destroyed. Before I could get up they stomped on me again throwing in all kinds of ridiculous plot points to make it look like Castle decided to disappear on his own. None of it made any sense. Then kick me some more by having the lamest wedding imaginable in front of the cheesiest green screen possible. They couldn't even be bothered to invite their precinct family or let Kate's dad have a father daughter moment (but they could let the former alcoholic drink champagne). Don't even get me started on the most ridiculous, unromantic honeymoon in the history of TV. They seem to take a particular joy in ruining every important moment in the lives of Beckett and Castle to bring their fans as much disappointment as possible. This could have been a great show. It started out that way, but now they are really working overtime to destroy it.
The episode was quite a let down. 3XK went to a lot of trouble to make everyone think he was dead in "Probable Cause" and instead of going to another part of the country to continue his 'work', he comes back to NYC and conveniently shows himself on the traffic cam just so he can further mess with Castle and Beckett. Castle who because of his mob connections shares responsibility for getting the dirty cop killed and can no longer consult at the precinct suddenly is given a pass to come back and consult again. There are endless interrogation scenes and flashbacks. There is no outside the box thinking. 3XK is known for always behind 3 steps ahead of the police but they never consider that the tooth could be a plant or that Kate could be walking into a trap. Amy calls Kate scared and wanting help but Kate tells Castle she is afraid he would scare Amy away if he came along. What about Castle would scare Amy away? Or instead of having Amy stand on a street corner like a target waiting for Beckett, why didn't Beckett just tell her to grab a cab and get to the police station? So many things don't make sense. I never bought the concept that Dr Nieman could perform plastic surgery to make a person look exactly like another person. The whole episode was just a lame setup for part 2. The loft scene was the normal scene with no substance. They spent less than a minute to cover the fact that Martha still has an acting career, Alexis is still going to school and has bonded very well with Kate, and Kate and Castle are thinking about kids. In earlier seasons, Martha and Alexis actually had their own little stories. Castle and Beckett actually had serious conversations.
I dislike 3XK. That arc should have wrapped up long ago. I really hated the episode with Dr Nieman so I am not looking forward to the 2 parter.
I loved Clear and Present Danger, but most of the episodes I either disliked or was lukewarm about. I hated 6.23. That would have been a beautiful wedding. Instead we got a crappy wedding in front of the worst green screen sunset ever. Kate's dad never said a word like 'you're beautiful', 'your mom would have been so proud'. They forgot to invite their precinct family. Their vows were good but only because Stana and Nathan really sold them. The honeymoon was the worst. I didn't understand them dressing Stana as some bizarre slut in her black leather corsetted outfit while they dressed Nathan like Hoss Cartwright. Obviously they love the Beckett character and care little for the Castle character. I'm glad they are finally concentrating on the Castle character, but hate the ridiculous mythology they came up with. I was really tired of the Beckett show, however I want the Castle back that I fell in love with in Seasons 1 & 2. Now they portray him as childish, unromantic, clueless about women. The show has really gone downhill.
I disagree that they should have won best couple. Now that they are engaged, there is almost no couple-like interaction between them. Someone tuning in for the first time would never know they were even a couple or if they caught them in a bedroom scene they would think they had been together for 20 years because there is certainly no spark between them.
I totally agree with the analysis. I can't believe Alicia Logano wasn't nominated for an Emmy. Although Fillion was great in that episode, her portrayal of an unstable hostage taker is what really made that episode the best one of the year. Overall, I've really enjoyed this season, but the relationship is flat. Whenever Castle and Beckett are together, the writers go for some ridiculous laugh instead of giving us some quality time between them. For instance, having Kate being afraid of a lion picture and making a big issue out of it and having their bedroom turn into Grand Central station and the worst gag ever - having Kate dress up as Pochahantas. Such a waste when we are longing for real couple interaction. I really miss their flirtatious banter and now that they are together, there should be lots of affectionate touching and kissing, but it seems they've been ordered to never touch. Not even hold hands or have Castle put his arm around her waist - nothing. It's gotten bizarre.
Kate was out of line here. No matter what Castle says or does it makes her doubt him. When he told her he loved her she lied about remembering it. The next time she yelled at him for withholding info about her moms case. The only time she's ever wanted him is when he's told her he's thru then she always decides to reel him back in. He always takes her back no matter what. How can she doubt he's in it? It took her 4 years to get with Castle but in minutes she's drinking champagne and kissing Vaughn. (He didnt just kiss her, she closed her eyes and leaned in) I thought it was bizarre. Kate needs to decide if she actually loves Castle. The guy couldn't do any more for her than he's already done.
I loved this epi. Seamus nailed it. Castle and Beckett had a great moment at the end that ended with a kiss. It was great! I really didn't enjoy the epi about Espo. Maybe it was just a bad story but this was great!
Loved this episode. It was a good creepy story and everyone including Perlmutter was great. I loved that he called Wes Craven to pick his brain! And the Holy Water saved the day after all! I was also glad to get a scene at the loft between the 2 of them. We need more of those.
I realty enjoyed this 2 parter. It was wonderful to finally have an episode that Nathan could show his acting chops. He should get an award. Frankly im tired of cable shows getting all the awards. I dont find them entertaining at all. It was great to have an episode centered around Castle. Everything always seems to center around Beckett with Castle providing comic relief. I'd prefer to see more of him or for him to get the meatier roles. I was concerned about Brolin playing the dad but I thought he did a good job. Wished it could have been Harrison Ford! If his dad does come around again, Beckett will arrest him for Henson's murder so that could be problematic.
