I guess a lot happened between the beginning of season 8 when she said she'd stay on in case Ellen left and earlier in the year. Who knows what went on there but we have to respect Chyler's decision. Cause after all, it's her life. It was really sad that she had to die but I think it was better off rather than letting her ride into some happy sunset aka just writing her off. If Chyler was absolutely sure that she would never come back, then they had to kill her off. Simply for the sake of Mark. I loved Mark and Lexie so much and rooted for them and at least we got closure for that relationship. I think it worked out that they weren't in a relationship when she died cause it would've been worse. Her confessing her feelings for him then him doing it as she died brought closure and at least we knew these two were really meant for each other. If she hadn't died and was just written off, then Mark would never really get to be in a genuine relationship again assuming he continues on in the show. Good luck to Chyler and thank you for giving us Lexie Grey!

I actually like Charlotte more than Addison and really watch the show for Charlotte and Cooper but I don't think the show can really survive without Addison. I'd probably still watch it but it'd be very difficult to keep it alive without Addison there.

@Jarrod Exactly. The way the season finale was done, it would make more sense for other characters to leave. Pete's situation was left with an open end - you don't know if he'll be tossed into jail again or where his relationship with Violet stands. I'm not the biggest fan of the character but I'm a fan of good storytelling and this move doesn't seem like it'll deliver very good storytelling. I don't know how they'll explain/navigate his absence in terms of Lucas for example. And I really don't like the idea of a time jump. I get that with these 13 episodes possibly being the last of the series they want to maximize it but it's frustrating that we won't get closure on this core character.

I'm shocked. Pete and Violet going back and forth throughout the last season got exhausting but certainly there's still a story for this character. He still has a family in the show so just getting him out makes no sense to me at all. I mean, what is that, they'll just say he's in jail and that'll be the end of it? I think other characters right now are far more disposable than Pete even though he can get annoying. Sheldon might be funny and all but even after all this time writers still don't know what to do with him. Amelia could even be written out just to give the character a break already. Say she went on a much needed vacation or change in life! And Sam or Jake could easily be written out depending on who Addison chooses. I just think there's far more Pete can do.

I always liked Ivy's character but I think this is a good time for her to leave the show. Let it seem like the girl got her happy ending with Diego after losing Raj. She had a good exit so at least Ivy fans, such as myself, are satisfied.

Private Practice Review: Unicorn Baby

I absolutely loved this episode. If you took out Violet and Pete from it, it would've actually been perfect. Amelia's arc has just been so heavy but at the same time great to watch. And as Shonda said, it was a really great backdrop for Addison and Charlotte to realize how far they've come. I won't say more because the 1000 characters limit will probably cut me off anyway but it was just a really great finale! I'm so grateful the show's been renewed!

@ Katie If I read right, I think it's because there's a law that Anencephalic babies can only be used as organ donors if they reach the same criteria as any other organ donor. So all the standard medical criteria ethical principles still have to apply to them.

Glad to see that Scandal was picked up for another season! I'm so happy that Grey's PP, and Scandal are all returning. Woohoo!!

SO SO HAPPY THAT PRIVATE PRACTICE IS RENEWED!! I feel like I can breathe again. Haha!

I think it'll be Arizona. They set things well for her to be the one to die as mentioned by @Shaylie. I think it's also ideal for the actress. She's expecting her third child so it's likely the actress wants an out from the show right now.
