@nana I assume she knows him through Joe White. Maybe the producers were planning on Joe White being part of "Team Mom" but Terry O'Quinn wasn't available (he has a new series on Fox this fall called "Gang Related") so they went with David Keith.
Latest ratings - Castle 11.3 million H50 7.7 Revolution 5.7. ABC won with total viewers NBC won with the 18-49 demographic. One of the most iconic TV themes of the 60's besides H5O was Mission Impossible. This kept running through my head watching Steve and Mom in the elevator shaft. I kept waiting for someone to pull off one of those latex masks.
Preliminary ratings: Castle 10.8 million H50 7.8 and Revolution 6.4. ABC wins the night with total viewers but NBC wins with the 18-49 age group which is all important with the advertisers. (alas a group of which I am no longer a member)
The biker is Tip Gilbert who is playing himself. His daughter was abducted and murdered in 1985. Peter Lenkov got the inspiration for the episode after talking with him.
Awesome episode. A few comments 1.) Talk about "ripped from the headlines" - story Monday about 3 women in Cleveland who were released after being kidnaped for 10 years. 2.} The show continues its salute to Hollywood icons this season James Bond, Indiana Jones, and now Harry Callahan as Danno tortures Henry Rollins to find out where a young girl is buried ala Clint Eastwood torturing Andrew Robinson in the original "Dirty Harry" 3.) Why has Naval Intelligence information on the Yakuza?
@virg a lieutenant in the navy is the same as a captain in the army. a captain in the navy is the same as a colonel in the army. In the navy there are 3 ways of doing things, the right way, the wrong way, and the navy way.
Latest ratings: Castle 10.6 million H50 7.7 and Revolution 5.8 The bad news for H50 - it was the lowest rated show on Monday among the 18-49 age group.
I liked this episode for the most part. Welldone with the faux Oprah-like show. Learned a few new things. Charlie Fong's real name is Che Fong a tribute to the original. Jack Lord was always mentioning "Che in the lab". Also the blue-lit room is deep in the bowels of the Aliiolani Kale where you need to enter a code to get in.Hope the Honolulu ACLU doesn't find out. Only problem was the case of the week. Really-a map of a secret stash on a tattoo. Why not just hide somewhere GPS coordinates.
Latest ratings: Castle 10.4 million, NBC preempted Revolution for a news special 8.9 million and H50 last with 7.7. Next week will be a repeat episode 3.08 (the one Mom shows her expertise with jumper cables ) then 4 straight weeks of new shows with the season finale 5/20/13. Since CBS has renewed H50 for next season I am curious as how many story arcs will be resolved and how many will be carried over to fall. Guest star Rick Yune seems to be making a career of being North Korean bad guys. He was the baddie in the new movie "Olympus Has Fallen" and also in the James Bond movie "Die Another Die" (along with H50's Will Yun Lee - Sangmin)
One of the things you have to accept is that TV shows exist in their own "alternative universes" where the rules of physics, law, medicine, logic, space and time are different from the real world. So a lot of what happened in the episode probably makes sense in the H50 universe. However one thing that I can not accept is that the Koreans returned the body in a cheap pine box. Apparently they were going to transport the body back in this box before Steve looked inside. Proper protocol for transporting our fallen heroes would have to place the body in a proper casket and cover it with a American flag. The fact that a body dumped in a shallow grave for three years and exposed to the elements, wildlife, and insects and microrganisms in the soil would have been reduced to skeletonal pieces is one of those rules that are different. Otherwise an enjoyable episode
It's funny sometimes it the little things you remember from a show. In this case-pizza. The show is set in Chicago but filmed in New York. Chicago is the home of deep dish pizza. Cary and Robyn are eating a thin cheese pizza. Typical in NY but sacrilege in Chicago. Otherwise enjoyed the episode.
After the NCIS:LA pilot aired major changes were made. Lara Macy was replaced by Hetty. They moved from a warehouse to a mission style building. They got rid of Nate and Dominic. They got rid of that annoying big screen display with people waving their hands and arms moving images around. Hopefully they'll do the same with NCIS:Red. A few suggestions get rid of the guy who looks like Danny Bonaduce. Get rid of Laverne and Shirley (the two vans)There are a number of federal and military agencies which have "go" teams that deploy with no or little notice without needing these elaborate rigs.
From 9-10PM both The Voice and Dancing With The Stars each had 14.3 million viewers compared to 8.6 for 2 Broke Girls/Mike and Molly. Hard to follow that kind of poor leadin. Notice that 7.0 million viewers left NBC after The Voice ended. Not good news for Revolution.
When Steve and Danno arrive at the marina, you can see in the background HPD interviewing the boyfriend and the wife on their boat while the husband is on the dock in cuffs talking to HPD. So I guess this is an HPD case.
This spinoff shows some promise. As I recall the pilots for NCIS and NCIS LA didn't bring down the house and needed some fine tuning. However the concept of the team living together 24/7 in this high-tech unit is going to require a mega dose of suspension of reality. I don't know if aircraft exist that could transport this unit. Second once it gets where its going its going to need a power source, a source of water, and finally and most important a sanitary hookup or else they need to bring along their own "honey wagon".
I wasn't expecting a lot from this episode and I wasn't disappointed. The promo for this was Catherine goes undercover in roller derby and guest starring "Dog" Chapman. Very low expectations. But props to the writers for having Danno mention roller derby icon Gwen "Skinny Minnie" Miller of the LA Thunderbirds. Also watching Steve and Mom row the outrigger all I could think of was the closing credits of the classic 5-0 with guys paddling the outrigger. Not good news on the rating front 11.2 million for Castle 8.8 for H50 and 3.5 for the finale of Deception. ABC won the night with the return of Dancing with the Stars. Next week The Voice and Revolution return on NBC.
Enjoyable light episode. This must be H50's Valentine's Day episode with all the bromance. Danno and Steve are supposed to be opposites (like all "buddy cop" shows) Steve is the over the top take no prisoners guy and Danno is the levelheaded lets think about it guy but the writers go too far with Danno and he comes off as whinny. As for Catherine she should know that sensitivity is not Steve's strongpoint. He's not a hearts and flowers guy. Again the writers really haven't found a niche to put her in. A couple other comments. I'm a Cowboy fan like Catherine but I wouldn't be caught dead in a Tony Romo jersey after his performance against the Redskins. Also Duke apparently made a very fast recovery after being shot by the Hookman. Duke has to be in his 50's (Dennis Chun is 61) and you don't heal very fast at that age.
Forgettable episode. Case of the week-fight club theme has been done to death(sorry couldn't help it) .Doris substory- Saw it coming a mile away. Steve should have hired Tony Archer. Ratings continue with little change. H50 9.5 million, Castle 8.9, and Deception 3.3. CBS swept the night again.
If you look at the various blogs/discussion groups about H50 the one common theme throughout is the gunshop scene. Just about everyone has an opinion.Stepping aside from gun control angle, it was stupid of Danny to harass Norm. From all he knew Norm was a concerned citizen who called in to offer information. If you are a police officer and someone is volunteering information you dont resort to badgering and name calling.
Latest ratings. H50 9.6 million Castle 8.8 Deception 3.1. Last week the rerun of the Ed Asner episode beat a Castle rerun and a new Deception 6.3 to 6.0 to 3.7
Great episode. The producers did a super job paying homage to the original and at the same time updating it to today. I do think J.J. Armes was more menacing than Peter Weller and the car chase was better in the original without the quick edits. Good thing they had Kono bring down the sniper instead of Danny who did it in the original given the current Danno's marksmanship. Only negative the ridiculous debate(?) between Norm and Danny which was silly. Hawaii has one of the strictest gun laws in the country. Danno should have known this.
