  1. Hawaii Five-0 Review: New Year, Same Five-0

There is always room for another nice looking actor. I still prefer Alex, but I am not blind that Ian has the looks also. The point is that they both can act, and his addition would be welcomed to the show.

@Malika....no the world does not evolve around AOL, but this show does. Without him, there would not be one.

@amazingalex.....You are right that Alex said he was not a cop in the past, but last epi he said he is no longer in the service. Although they still call him Lt. Commander. So since he works with cops, I guess that makes him one.
  2. Hawaii Five-0 Review: New Year, Same Five-0

@Jim....I understand that it gets to the point where it becomes too farfetched and there are a lot of people who agree with you. I respect that.
Some have implied that its not a good show because of this. My point is that if we went by real life, noone would be watching any show. Most police officers may have to shoot their guns possibly 3 or 4 times in their careers. How many bad guys are going to stand there while 40 rounds are being fired at them. I think after the first one I would duck. Since when can't a 17 year old boy, no matter how nerdy, can't out run Lori and Kono when he had a head start? I'm just saying take all those out and what would we be watching. We agree to disagree.
  3. Hawaii Five-0 Review: New Year, Same Five-0

Please don't threaten to watch Castle, its not the first time a fan tried to plug that show on this site because they are scared what H50 is doing to their ratings. If you like it go on their site, I don't plug H50 there.

    @Martinelli..... I will sign it.
  4. Hawaii Five-0 Review: New Year, Same Five-0

I have to agree with you ladies, Ian Anthony Dale is hot. I'm not replacing AOL, I still think Alex is hotter, but I would not mind if Ian stayed on the show. I would rather him be a good guy, and they sort of left it up in the air. Niro said he wanted to keep him from the Yakuza, but then Steve said Adam would be the air apparent to the Yakuza. You can google Ian, there are pictures w/o his shirt, very nice.

The cliff scene is exactly what McG would do, and has done from the start. A Navy Seal does push the envelope, that's why they are Navy Seals. You are right on one point, a cop in real life would not get away with it, but this stuff is done on all cop shows. DNA takes at least 2 wks yet they all get it back in a day, that's trying to put something in a one hour show.
  5. Hawaii Five-0 Review: New Year, Same Five-0

@amazingalex.....I agree its like they have selective listening. They do not respond at all when it comes to the Lori character. You think they would defend themselves if they thought the character was good. I wish I was optimistic. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that if she stays, she is not involved with any team member, and Catherine has more of a role in McG's life. I think McG needs someone, just not someone he is the boss of.
  6. Hawaii Five-0 Review: New Year, Same Five-0

In the first season Kono had an ex-boyfriend from her surfing days in one of the episodes, where she thought he might be involved in something that they were investigating. At some point I think they will involve Kono with a man outside the team. I'm just glad that they are showing so much more of her lately. I think they did hear the fans who were getting ticked off at her being pushed aside.

@Kelly....I remember reading several articles that they changed their mind on Danny and Rachael because they got a lot of angry feedback from the fans, that Danny was sleeping with a married woman, and what were they showing Grace. PLenkov stated that, "I didn't feel anyone would really care". Since the episode had already been filmed they had to make something else up when the new season started to get out of it.
  7. Hawaii Five-0 Review: New Year, Same Five-0

@Jim and amazingalex: you are welcome...... These are just things that PLenkov's twitter reveals. Other people who twitter ask him the questions and he usually answers without giving too much away. Never anything on the Lori character, I think that is taboo as far as he is concerned.

@Jeffrey.....noone hates you because you have a different opinion, some people are just a little more harsh when it comes to Lori. You are not the only one who has said that they like the Lori character. We can't all agree on everything.
  8. Hawaii Five-0 Review: New Year, Same Five-0

I think that 2.16 is when Catherine is suppose to come back. Hopefully not for the last time. I really like her and Alex together.

2.14 is when Shelburne is revealed, whether that's the end of that part or not who knows. Hopefully it will be revealed to Steve and not just the viewers. Also, Danny's daughter and ex are back in this one.

2.15 is suppose to be when Danny's old partner, who Danny put away for being a crooked copy, comes after him.

2.19 is when Steve's sister is suppose to reappear. Long time coming for that one.
  9. Hawaii Five-0 Review: New Year, Same Five-0

@Jeffrey Sean Keith.....I've always said that it was not all Lauren German. There are producers, directors, and writers on the show that are to blame for the failure of this character. They needed to expand the core 4 characters before adding a fifth one so early in the series. I agree with you that she was thrown in, and now they don't know how to repair it. I have nothing personal against Lauren German, but she is a big girl, and could have shown some emotion in the previous 11 episodes. I respect your opinion, but I think its too late to change people's minds about the character.
  10. Hawaii Five-0 Review: New Year, Same Five-0

I have to be fair. I did see the Lori character show actual facial expressions and she was not robotic. Maybe she was getting some tips on the set from her buddy Scott. Does it change my mind? NO, it took 12 episodes for her to show emotion. I am glad to see more Kono in there and Lori is not attached to McG's hip anymore. I still think it would be better without Lori.

Alex had a bad haircut and I think he is getting older and its thinning a little. Yeah he may look thinner, but he is still the hottest on TV, I would not throw him back. Maybe after the break the hair will grow out more.
  11. Hawaii Five-0 Review: New Year, Same Five-0

Jim, I don't want to throw reality out the window completely, but it is just a TV show, and every show does it, and everyone complains about the same thing on other sites. I agree McG should have taken someone with him to Adam's house to rescue Joe, but I think it was implied that McG is not sure what Joe is into, and he is trying to protect him, as Joe is trying to protect McG. He said he was like a father to him and was there when his own father was not. So its not so unreal that he would have a hard time doing what probably should be done. Again, hollywood does stretch things out, and Shelburne will come to an end.
  12. Hawaii Five-0 Review: New Year, Same Five-0

I don't think the episode was as bad as previous comments. It wasn't the season opener, or the one in Korea, but it wasn't the Halloween one either.
It did not jump around as much, they kept the Shelburne thing going because it is suppose to be revealed on the episode of 2-14 according to Lenkov which won't air until 1-16-12. I'm getting a little impatient also with Shelburne, but the Wo-Fat thing is not going to end for those of you want it to. It's too big a part of the show to end it now. I like the actor that plays him, I think he does a good job. I know it was a stretch for someone to kill a 16 yr old to get the father off the jury, but worse things have happened in real life.
  13. Hawaii Five-0 Review: Out of The Pan, Into the Fryer

I agree that they should concentrate on the original 4. The second year is usually where they should concentrate on the background of the original characters. They do try to do too many stories in one episode, and the whole story does not get told as it should, it ends up being disjointed. I think what they did with Chin and Malia was fine. Last year we found out why they split up, why Kono was mad at Malia, they gave us a couple of mentions of her in other episodes, then they brought her back this year, they got back to together, and now are married. I don't think that was quick at all as some people have said.

We do need recurring characters, Max and Kamekono don't take up that much time. I like Joe, he has a purpose, the background to the McG family.
Although, I do agree they are taking too long with some of this. The majority of the first half of the season was taken up by a fifth character, Lori, who they keep changing why she is there in the first place, or if she is going to stay.
  14. Hawaii Five-0 Review: Out of The Pan, Into the Fryer

Since H50 is on a break, and between holiday and family commitments, I decided to watch Alex on the Shield, season 6 via Netflix. I had stopped watching this show because it was a little too dark for me, with no sense of humor, although great acting and writing, I missed season 6 with Alex. He did a very good job, and although they made his character a pig at the end, I do believe this is what got him a contract with CBS......The reason I'm bringing this up is because his career actually benefited from being released from a show that was still on going. Although season 7 was the Shield's last season, by choice not by ratings. He is where he is today. So for those fans of Lauren German's character Lori, I ask you if they were to release her after episode 2.17, which is not a sure thing, and you feel she is such a good actress, then do you not feel that she would not land something else that would be more suited to her, then the character of Lori, where there will not be so many people wanting the character taken off the show? Just would like your perception.
  15. Hawaii Five-0 Review: Out of The Pan, Into the Fryer

Kim, sorry have to disagree again. Lauren is the one who looks like she needs a meal or two. Grace has some shape to her. Lauren is attractive, but they need to do something with her hair, maybe a comb once in awhile. I've never noticed any dark circles under Grace's eyes, but I think she is very attractive. Grace has certainly has more talent, and now that Lauren isn't taking up all the scenes like she did earlier in the season, we are getting a little more of Chin and Kono, who were part of why there was a second season. I watch mainly because of AOL, but with Scott, Daniel, and Grace it makes it a team.

Loretto....I'm a fan of NCIS and NCIS LA also, but if you go on their sites people complain about the same things.....not real, too drawn out, don't need any additions. I watched NCIS from the start because of Mark Harmon, even before it went to number 1 and everyone else was watching American Idol.
I hope that H50 has the same success, even though I complain about some things, I would not miss this show. I feel it has the same potential if they correct a couple of mistakes.
  16. Hawaii Five-0 Review: Out of The Pan, Into the Fryer

I agree that Sizemore's character should have either only been in the episode where Kono was undercover for IA, or keep him as IA. Now he is chief of detectives? I think after McG punched him the face and what he forced Kono to do they would not be so forgiving. I think they would have played the anymosity between them up a little.

I'm not much of a stickler to things being true to life. We all watch TV and movies, its a fantasy life, not necessarily real life. Though I see that sometimes it seems totally ridiculous. As long as I'm entertained I don't care how accurate it is. I see enough reality on the news. Although, I agree that if they start out a character being something, then switch without explaining is confusing. Lori has had several of these and they still don't know what to do with her.

Joe has a purpose, he is the link from the past, although they are dragging it out a little too long. I like Max, he is what he is suppose to be, a quirky M.E. That is something they started out with and kept as is.

They do give Chin a funny line now and then, when he and Kono stopped the muscle car and he walked up, tapped his gun on the window, and said "license and registration please". I remember a couple of others he and Kono have said, but you are right not as much as the others.

I totally agree that Kono is being underused, although better in the recent episodes. The Lori character took way too much time away from all of them except McG. They did not need another female this early in the series as a regular cast member.
  17. Hawaii Five-0 Review: Out of The Pan, Into the Fryer

I know Lauren has her fans. I just don't know how different people can look at the same thing and see something completely opposite. Especially people who are in the business. I have nothing against her personally, I just see how this character is portrayed. It's not all her, but it is partly her. How do they see the stiffness, and expressionless faces, then call that good acting? If this is the way she is being told to play the character, then why is she not out there telling everyone, or why aren't the directors and producers explaining this is the way we want this character played. If they are going to keep her with all the complaints then should they not be defending her, other then just calling her critics rude or hateful? Give us examples of how she is doing well. I just don't think this is the character for her, and again the writers should be blamed also.
  18. Hawaii Five-0 Review: Out of The Pan, Into the Fryer

@Kelly....I think it can go a little dark. I thought the scenes in North Korea were pretty dark, until Lori hugged Steve, then that sort of spoiled it. I don't want it to become "the Shield", way too dark, especially for a non cable show. That was a hard show to watch although the writing was very good. I like some comedy moments, it breaks it up. I don't think the Steve/Danny exchanges is forced, I think the Lori/Danny in the handcuffs thing was forced, but I think that was just to give the Lori character something to do.

@Martinelli....Yeah, I don't know if Steve is chasing Joe, or what in those pictures of 2.14. We won't find out until 1-16-12. It would be nice if McG had somebody that would not keep things from him, other then his team. I don't think that they are making Joe a bad guy, just one that got caught up in protecting the remaining McG family. This should be a good episode, I hope that they don't do too many things at once, since Danny is suppose to be delivering Rachael's baby also. When they do that they don't tell enough of the story and it becomes disjointed.

@Mike....LOL, yeah she could go down on the SPF coverage until she gets some color, she looks like she should be in Holland not Hawaii.
  19. Hawaii Five-0 Review: Out of The Pan, Into the Fryer

@Kelly....Hi, I understand most of your opinion. You prefer the action to the romance. What I don't understand is, who is thinking that Steve and Danny should be gay? I'm sure that is hinted in some sights because people are uncomfortable with a true caring relationship between two men, so they think they must be gay, usual that's because of their own insecurities. I have not seen any sign of this in the writing at all, and there are other shows that portray close relationships between people of the same sex which does not mean they are gay. I love the way they interact with each other. I think you are the only person who has ever brought that up on this site. I hope you change your mind and comment about the action on the new shows that are coming up next month.
  20. Hawaii Five-0 Review: Out of The Pan, Into the Fryer

Happy Holidays everyone. I am looking forward to the rest of the season also. That is something I know we all agree on.
  21. Hawaii Five-0 Review: Out of The Pan, Into the Fryer

First of all, go to this website to vote for Kono, vs Sarah of "chuck". She is behind.
    http://t.co/JDBUf8Ha

@AJ....I don't want a team member romance because, he is her boss, that never works out, and usually one of them does not keep their job. I know other shows have done it, but usually when they are winding down the show, and after many seasons of being together. It's usually the kiss of death to a show, at least 9/10 times. There are people on this site who want Kono to have a romance, and I don't think that should happen either, especially since she is suppose to be much younger, and he is like a big brother to her, as are Danny and Chin (who is her cousin anyway). I want this show to have many seasons. I too like Catherine as Steve's girlfriend, and would not mind her being shown more, as long as its a recurring character, maybe after a few more seasons they can expand it. I loved Chin and Malia, too bad that they did not show more of the wedding, especially since they hyped it so much.
  22. Hawaii Five-0 Review: Out of The Pan, Into the Fryer

@AJ....I'm happy to hear your side, but its just not going to change my opinion. We have seen 12 episodes, 11 with Lori. The first 7 she was in she was practically taking over, the only one who had more screen time was McG, (thank God they did not mess with that, or I really would have turned the show off). In all the scenes that she has done, (and believe me I know its not all her fault, there are directors, producers, and writers to blame)she has not shown any real purpose other then another body on the team. All that time could have been spent developing the core 4 characters. With her there the shows seem to be rushed and disjointed because there is not enough time. They could have brought her in slowly as a recurring character. McG having some romance is fine with me, but not with a team member, and according to PLenkov she is not a love interest, although their writing is showing something different.
I hope you keep putting in your opinion, the author of this site agrees with you. But you have to know this is not the only site that has people who have my same opinion. I don't think waiting until the end of the season is going to be any different.
  23. Hawaii Five-0 Review: Out of The Pan, Into the Fryer

A little more on acting, then I will put it to rest...for now.

I spoke of Grace Park showing empathy and caring, real emotion. Lets also speak about Alex, his scene with Kevin in the closet and carrying him outside. Scott when he only had to look out the window at at the parents who's children were kidnapped, or when he stopped that 13 year old boy from coming home to school after his father was murdered. Daniel Dae Kim in the scene with Kono in the interrogation room. Real emotion, believable, acting as it should be. Please, give me one scene where the Lori character has shown actual empathy, while not looking forced or robotic.

I don't hate this actress. I don't know her, but I do know this character that she portrays. They tried something and it did not work.
  24. Hawaii Five-0 Review: Out of The Pan, Into the Fryer

@AJ...I respect that you have an opposing opinion, respect mine. My life is going very well, thanks for asking.
  25. Hawaii Five-0 Review: Out of The Pan, Into the Fryer

@Amazingalex...that's all we can do, and hope for the best.

@Jschoi...agree, Grace Park does it effortlessly, while Lauren seems to force everything. I almost feel bad for her, after all these episodes, they can't possibly think that the way the character is being portrayed is good. Even when I thought Lori showed a little emotion, you could see that she was not comfortable doing it. From the start they needed to show some guidance, but they hung her out to dry. I was hoping since she seems to be a buddy with Scott Caan, that she would at least notice how he and the others do it, or ask. You have to put a lot of this on the directors and producers, when you have an employee that is not up to standards, you do what ever you can to help them succeed, because if they do, then you all do. They just can't think it worked, the show would not have been so good before if they did not know what they were doing.
