Helis, you have to tell me what country you are from I need to move there (no such place exists LOL.) This is a Mellie friendly site and most of you are Mellie fans and I understand that. However to dismiss Bienaime Joseph is unfortunate. I know she may have stepped on a few toes by being so blunt but everyone of her her points are solid.
I am not saying you are a racist, I don't know you enough to even venture a guess or accuse you of it and I don't believe that she is either.
Race is an issue that is very difficult to get over, studies after studies have shown that we associate and empathize with people who look like us. There was even a study last year that shows doctors treat white patient's illness more aggressively than black ones (this is done unconsciously) Had you ask these doctors if they were racist they would jump up and down that they were not and I am not sure they are.
I also understand her view about Mellie and Olivia. last year I was obsessed with Scandal and would devour everything that I can about the show and BienAime Joseph is right. I was listening to a podcast with some feminist and they insisted that Mellie is "the heart" of the show and wanted Mellie to replace Olivia. If like me she was listening to these ladies and see that the show is making Mellie practically a saint and calls Olivia a whore every single episode in one way or another I would be upset as well. As it stands the show doesn't have the power on me that it once did. I no longer care whether or not it succeeds. The idea that we can prove a black woman can draw viewers so that we can see more diversity is no longer a priority. I watch this just like I used to watch soap operas and if I am being truthful it not written that much better either. I suggest Bienaime take a break from the show as I suspect many people are starting to and if she can handle it with enough detachment than she may enjoy the silliness, it is not that serious.
What frustrates me is that *I* am not the one saying that Mellie is the heart of the show. This show is and should be about Olivie Pope the Fixer who solves problems. If it's become about anything other than that, and let's get real, it totally has, 1) I didn't do it and 2) Shonda Rhimes deserves the vitriol.
I COMPLETELY AGREE WITH YOU RE our daughters. I don't look to television to teach my children lessons, now while they're little or as they grow up. But since I AM teaching their worth, it's not wrong that I want to see other women out there valuing themselves and refusing to take the constant cutting down and disparagement of their character through lowbrow namecalling. Women, fictional and otherwise, can do better than that, particularly when the fictional women are written by real people.
Miranda, I think you are just person that is there so the vitriol is being directed at you and I am sorry for that. If I could have answered these ladies I would have at the time, but like I said I don't care enough about the show to bother anymore. I understand you are frustrated because you feel that you are different and I believe you are but even now EW just tweeted that they wanted more Mellie. You are right you are just a reviewer the pen is the hand of Shonda , she calls Olivia a whore not you, she demotes Kerry and elevates Bellamy and those are her choices.
I do think people should start to think about why this is being done though. I have 3 girls and the idea that it OK for people to call them whores no matter their mistakes make my heart hurt. Shonda is a woman and I think we have given her so much credit for the diversity of her shows we don't want to hold her accountable for anything else. Had she been a white man or a white woman who keeps referring to a black character as a whore every week, the NAACP, (I exaggerate of course but you get my point) and others would have petitions and he/she probably would never do it to start with. Because Shonda is black woman we give her a pass not only to insult Olivia every week but to use her sexuality against her. I am sorry unlike Bienaime who may think it is you and other reviewers who are responsible, I personally lay the blame at Shonda's feet. If this is the diversity Shonda wants to give us I don't want it BET gives me enough of that.

I disagree. Most of us are not Team Mellie or Team Olivia. If anything, we are Team Jake or Team Fitz. This is not a choice about who should Fitz love more or who should Fitz spend the rest of his petty life with. The arguments most of us are having is about Olivia realizing she is in a destructive relationship. Since when is it okay to sleep with a married man, you cannot argue this side. As I have said before, I DON'T CARE if Mellie is the most evil person in the world. Fitz needs to man up and divorce her. Olivia deserves to be wife and a mother to build a life with someone. She deserves to be at his side or vice versa. People always talk about Mellie being POTUS but Olivia might want to be President some day she deserves someone who will be her first gentleman, but you HAVE to be a gentleman
Aykme I wish I cared enough about what is good for Olivia. Last year I would have given you a run for your money and we would have had a great debate. Scandal is not worth an intelligible debate, it is soap opera that relies on shock instead of characters. After 3 seasons Do I know enough about Olivia? no. Do I know what her moral compass is? no. Do I know whom she loves? She doesn't even know. All this team Fitz or Jake is silly. This is a woman who two and a half years ago was the smartest person in the room, now she knows nothing that is going on around her. I don't want to talk about this show anymore it just makes me sad to see the potential wasted. Good luck watching the show, I may come here one in a while because I like to read people's point of view, but scandal is just not the same for me anymore.
It was good but they seem to run into a problem of having the case be more of a side show and really boring sometimes. The guy who played the lawyer this week is a terrible actor and I had a hard time taking anything he did seriously.
I'm surprised at such a positive review. I love this show and it was a solid episode but I was honestly expecting much more.
SO glad Katherine's finally dead and gone... but then I was only ever able to tolerate her in small doses anyway. Somehow I just feel like Nina doesn't do dark side very well... I've always found it inexplicably annoying when she tries.
This show could use a major female villain that isn't Nina, actually... don't think they've done that yet. But presumably Markos is a guy... next season maybe?
Jury's still out on that whole pulled-off-into-darkness thing - it was either really dumb or really interesting, depending on whether it gets followed up.
(And holy hell - sorry for all those ellipses. Kind of a stream-of-consciousness thing. :p)
I absolutely loved it ! Louis and his dictaphone PRICELESS !!!! Donna playing him was even better.
Mike had me worried there during the case. But the flashbacks were so sad... The revelation about his dad... I loved how Rachel helped him.
Harvey and Scottie... I knew he'd pay.... That wouldn't sit well with me either. Jessica definitely doesn't trust them with her business.
Sheila and Louis crack me up. That was so... weird !
I too thought Michael Phelps was going to have more screen time but nope. Oh well.
Cannot wait for the rest ! That A+.... wow. They went too far, should have stuck with A or A- .
If Leslie does take the job eventually in Chicago it would be great to see Ron run for Mayor. He lasts two hours as his first order of business is to disband the city charter and close the government. Go Ron!
@colleen how is camille selfish its her house not crosby she owes him nothing its realistic for older ppl to downsize and zeek is on board
Mr. Gary Glasberg Please listen to your fans .Bishop does fit and its taking A great show Down. please let her go!
About the coffee- Martha is/was a theatre actress. Her workday would start around 5 or 6 pm at the latest and end around midnight at the earliest.
Which puts her "morning at about 10 or 11 am.
From what I gather, Beckett's shifts start around 7 am and go until 1 am.
Or else the writers have no grasp of how shift work operates in a unionized environment.
Why did they kill offf Rayna's Dad? I think Luke Wheeler is going to betaye Rayna with Edgehill label and then she will write a song about it. All time best show on TV
