I think it was the costumes and what the song was about -- but I was never sure either. If no one jumps in to say, maybe you can figure it out by finding the review and comments of that episode, although I'm sure I read them and still don't know (but then sometimes things go right by me). If you didn't notice, in "Home" there are a couple of thousand pages, and maybe you can look under shows and then reviews there.

He was dressed as a priest and she almost looked like a nun, and the song talks about a male-female relationship. That's VERY offensive!

In "Duets," why was Rachel and Finn's duet considered offensive? The song they sang was "With You I'm Born Again" by Billy Preston & Syreeta. The song is about two people being 'born again' through each other's touch. Rachel and Finn used their costumes (a Judaic women and a Catholic school boy) to make religious references which made it offensive to someone. However, they were trying to be offensive on purpose to throw the competition/audition.
