So I had a chance to watch both the sneak peek and the new promo for the episode “The Kids Are Not Alright,” and I haven’t even seen the episode yet and I already have low expectations about it. Read why.

About the Sneak Peek

-          How come after what Lily did, Serena agrees to meet with the “family” for lunch, as if nothing happened? I know it’s her mom, but what she did was out of line; plus she needs to make amends for what she did.

-          Obviously, we’re going to see yet again, Lily handling things as she said “in a way that’s best for this family.”

-          So how long is Rufus going to endure the way Lily treats him and all the lies and deceiving? Seriously.

About the Resolutions Promo

-          Why is it that the characters of this show don’t seem to change/grow up at all after all these years?

-          Chuck Bass is still Chuck the “womanizer.” Regardless of his ulterior motives for getting involved with Raina Thorpe, why is it that he has to handle “business” with a sexual intent? First, he complained about how he was a “disappointment” to his father and how he pretended to prove him wrong, but he always ends up doing everything the way Bart always complained about.

-          I think I read somewhere (correct me if I’m wrong) that Chuck might end up developing feelings towards Raina. If that’s the case, the producers/writers have seriously developed writer’s block. I mean, that’ll just remind me of the movie She’s All That and it will even be a reminiscence of The O.C. (remember Matt Ramsey and Maya Griffin?)

-          Blair working for a fashion magazine? That’s so not Blair. That should be a job for someone like Serena/Jenny. Whenever we get to finally see what she’ll major in (I hope Political Science, then Law School) then she should get an appropriate internship. After all, she said she wanted to be “Hilary but with better hair.” How does she expect to become that working at a fashion magazine?

-          I think it’s proven that Nate is a ladies’ man (he even became a prostitute once) and now we’re going to see him again getting involved with someone just because he’s being asked to? (by Blair).

-          After all the drama that happened with the Empire/Chuck/Jack Bass/Blair, now it’s Blair who’s going to pimp out Nate?

-          Serena and Dan; hot and cold, again? (or maybe not now, but in the future? Again?

-          Finally, why do the producers insist on turning GG into The O.C. 2.0? They’re turning Dair into Seth & Summer. If it’s true that the show will still have 2 more seasons, then at this point I don’t know how they’ll make GG still worth watching.

*Note – I know it’s a TV show, but I like to scrutinize details. Besides, since season 3 GG has lost its touch. JS and SS I hope you won’t make the same mistake as you did it with The O.C. :S

I haven´t thought about it like that!!! but you´re right Seth and Summer are TOO much like Dan and Blair!! and I also think that talk between Serena and her mother was so UNBELIEVABLE, I thought she wouldn´t be even talking to her!!! and they are having breakfast together?? Like WTF?? seriously WTF???????

I couldn't disagree more. I think GG is finally returning to be okay, especially since everything that happened  in season 3. Besides, how can you say that Dair is Seth/Summer? They haven't even happened yet, and if anything, Blair used to call Chuck by his lastname, and she used to do the "Chuck abuse" thing. If anything, I'm tired of CB sls all the time.

About the Sneak Peek

I think we'll just have to wait and see. The sneak peek usually doesn't reveal much in relation to the bigger storyline.

Why is it that the characters of this show don’t seem to change/grow up at all after all these years?

Entertainment, for one. If he's not with Blair no one wants to see a Chuck Bass going all business like and changed. I've grown tiresome of Chuck all together and he was one of my favourite characters but many people I know still love him and everything about him.

Blair working for a fashion magazine? That’s so not Blair. That should be a job for someone like Serena/Jenny.

Well fashion is an important part of GG and the UES. We've seen Jenny as a designer, Serena's dabbled in modelling (1.04, 1.11, 2.05). If they also wanted to involve Blair in a fashion storyline, a magazine seems like the most appropriate path to choose for her character imo.

I think it’s proven that Nate is a ladies’ man (he even became a prostitute once) and now we’re going to see him again getting involved with someone just because he’s being asked to? (by Blair).

It's not like he went out of his way to become a prostitute. He was having an affair with a married woman who then offered to help him, then proceeded to blackmailed him, and Nate being Nate, would do anything for his family.

After all the drama that happened with the Empire/Chuck/Jack Bass/Blair, now it’s Blair who’s going to pimp out Nate?

1. Chuck abused the trust and played on the feelings of the person who loved him the most.

2. It's not as if Nate is being forced to participate against his will or because he's being played by Blair and would do anything for her because of his undying love, or whatever.

Serena and Dan; hot and cold, again? (or maybe not now, but in the future? Again?

They have issues to work out, sure. But avoiding is what Dan and Serena do best. Their issues are far less complicated than Chair's who are, imo, far more hot and cold than Derena. They have significant breaks between their time together unlike Chair who switch back and forth between hate, confessing their love for each other, avoiding their feelings, scheming and games, sex sex sex, etc. etc.

Finally, why do the producers insist on turning GG into The O.C. 2.0? They’re turning Dair into Seth & Summer.

1. They're not turning Dan and Blair in Seth/Summer. It was always in their characters and in their interactions. It was always there, perhaps not as evident as Seth/Summer was from the beginning but if you bothered to notice, it was very much there.

2. There are many, many similarities between The O.C and Gossip Girl, this is just one of the bigger ones picked up by Chair shippers to claim unorginality in storylines, js.

3. I really think you Chair shippers need to calm down. Like I said in another thread all GG shippers have had to lose their OTP and had to watch them move on and wait for them to get back together. Chair has more hope than the rest of us combined. Your precious ship is more than likely to be endgame, so just relax and stop being so melodramatic.

Seth and Summer were there from the beginning in The O.C, they were couple that was always meant to be a couple. It's different with Dair because they both have other people whom they love and have been with since season one. To bring them to the forefront after three and a half seasons seems just like a prop for DS/CB.

But a very entertaining prop at that. So sit back, relax and enjoy it.

There's my two cents...

I'm a Chair shipper but I agree with you. I've seen a lot of Chair shippers and sometimes the only thing I want to say to them is: "It's just a SHOW!!" (And some Dair shippers are crazy, too)

and Dan shouldn't be working at a fashion magazine either, he should intern at the New Yorker...here's the reality check. You take an internship when you get one. Just because it isn't exactly what they want doesn't mean they're not going to do it. Work experience is work experience and I think it's realistic that Blair is working there.

i agree with elena.  i like chuck and blair together (fave chars and couple) but some of the chair fans make me cringe.

i'd also like to point out to the op that blair wanted chuck to seduce and destroy vanessa in season 2. although her jealousy got the better of her later but i think the jealousy stemmed from seeing chuck develop feelings for vanessa and not from the idea of them sleeping together. and the characters treat sex differently.  nate and chuck have tons of partners while blair has had less than 5? chuck, nate, jack, carter? i'm pretty sure nate and chuck wouldn't be too offended if a friend/not significant other (like blair was at that point) asked either of them to sleep with other women for whatever purpose she wanted.

i knew blair was going to ask nate to schlup (hey her step father is jewish hahahaha) with her boss.  but that butt grabbing scene was really cute.  of course, had it been the other way around, a nate grabbing blair's butt and encouraging her to seduce his boss, people might be mad.
