In Episode 3 "Loner", the newspaper article names the teens that died on the boat fire. The ones Listed were;
Douglas & Mary Armstrong (Nick's parents)
Sophie Anne Glaser (Melissa's mother)
Catherine Conant (Adam's mother)
Thomas Chamberlain (Faye's Father)
Elizabeth Meade (Diana's Mother)
And John Blackwell. So are we to assume that this is the renamed Black John from the books, and therefore Cassie's father?

I've never read the books, but all I know is that I love this show. I loved how in the last episode, Cassie used her magic to get themselves out of a tight situation. It was pretty nice when she busted that container, but when she lit that guy on fire, that was the icing on the spellbinding cake. That's the moment when everyone in the circle should be thanking Cassie for her quick actions...Diana was close to being killed.

I assume that John Blackwell is her father, yes. Because her dad died in that fire, and if that is the only name that doesn't belong to anyone of the circle it has to be Cassie's dad I guess.

I'm pretty sure John Blackwell is her father. The "documents" that Calvin Wilson left for Cassie were with a "JB" and I doubt that it actually stands for Jane Blake. It doesn't really add anything to the story if it does. John Blackwell was probably where Cassie got her black magic from.

They already said that her dad has blackmagic and that that means that Cassie has black magic too, because she got it from him. So we already know that
