Yea this is a tv show. I will never understand the chatline gangsters. Threats of cyber death over an opinion of a fictional character. So glad its legal to blaze it up in California!
Itbeing "just a tv show" does not excuse misogyny, sexism, racism and unfortunate implications on real world.
Fact 1: Characters of color have been completely mistreated in this show(not to mention the allusions to slavery, essentially equating witches to slaves both in their role in the show and in the past). Let's not even go into Plec's racist remarks about Bonnie over twitter.
Fact 2: The writing of this show HATES women. period. none of the females has any real proper characterization(barring Caroline). They are either "manipulative vain trollop airheads"(ala Becky and S3 Katherine) or caring modest caring modest empty objects (Melissa, elena, etc).
Fact 3: Sexism. THE WHOLE show is a sexist power fantasy that rivals Supernatural in ewww factor.
Fact 4: Show manages to fuck up every sensible topic in writing. The show through first three seasons has told us that rape, abuse, murder is entirely okay, posessiveness and objectification is "HOT", loss of consent is no big deal, actually reacting to deaths happening around you is mandatory and that no one should be independent, because oh gods how could anyone live without a supporting male figure.

ea thats pretty crazy and if they can hate on her for that reason then they were never really a Caroline fan. I may not think Klaus is right for her but i will still support her storylines because i am a ride or die chic for characters i like.
I am sorry but any sort of romantic interaction between Mr.Monkeyface and Caroline results in complete RAPE of her character.

Part the reason I stopped watching this shit is because I KNEW Plec will try to ruin Caroline an I'd rather remember her in all he glory and awesome than see her ruined with OOC actions like Plec did with Damon(who pretty much got turned into Stefdward II now)

I can only agree with the last part of this remark HOWEVER i dont know if Julie Plec is racist or just clueless on how to write for people of color. If i felt like i was watching roots, me being an africian american woman wouldnt watch it. As for the twitter remark i thought it was Matt Davis went there, Julie just kinda of stuck her head up her azze!

Her writing reflects the strongest of female characters to somehow fall vunerable to the males on the show especially the ones who murder or who have murdered. <Stefan, Damon,and the originals> Look at thier females followers and no matter what those characters do those followers will excuse and make excuses for thier behavior. Again its just a tv show and not real life!
Fact 3: Sexism. THE WHOLE show is a sexist power fantasy that rivals Supernatural in ewww factor. We both agree on this. This is why there is nobody currently on VPD who is ready for Bonnie's "jelly". I want her to have the whole package and not nessessarily the "bad boy".
Fact 4: Show manages to fuck up every sensible topic in writing. Singing to the chior here, unfortunately shows like these stay on air because people like us watch and chat about it... At the end of the day we have the freedom not to watch it.

I like Caroline with a bad boy. I don't care if it's cliche. I like her dynamic with Klaus better than Matt/Tyler/Stefan
