   Comparisons between the shows are bound to happen, especially when one show is as legendary and great as BTVS is and other show constantly tries to copy something from it.

    

   Any show about a teenage girl stuck between two vamps, good and bad in mystical town and facing her destiny are bound to be compared to BTVS, not to mention that any female lead is bound to be compared to Buffy :)

   not to mention that; btvs as set the standard for complex realistic andruel tvhows, propelled and defined vampire genre on tv and without it there would be no tvd tv show. Why? Bexause, btvs was eavily inspired by makn premise of tvd books and created a masterpiece out of it and tvd constantly tries to emulate that setting and that level.
