I don't understand why everyone bashes Elena so much. Just because she isn't as fun as Damon, does not mean she's boring. That's her character and then if she were to act different, everyone would go crazy too. I think she's perfect the way she is. She is actually an extrememly strong and forgiving character, and most of the time you don't really see that in female lead roles. She's amazing just the way she is, and anyone who thinks otherwise is delirious.

I actually like Elena, although she has her moments where she can be really annoying I still like her to some degree. I think that as the series has gone on she has become less believable to me. That might be due to the fact that the writers have killed almost every person she has loved. I feel like she should be more sad, more believable to the audience.
I really loved her in the first six episodes of season one, she was a believable teenage girl in high school who lost her parents. But as she found out about the vampires and stuff, things changed and I felt like she should have reacted different to a few situations. Over all though, I like Elena, I think she is a strong character, and yes some people think she is boring. But she is HUMAN, her life isnt supposed to be like Katherine's because she is a vampire! And they have different morals, beliefs, ex.
So yes, I like Elena, she isnt a perfect character but who is?

She have no character other than caring and being the new messiah. Her personailty equals that of a mailbox. She is supposed to be the lead character, but she have nothing that makes her interesting at all.
To top it off she is suicidal and emotion numb(unless it is Steffies love ofcause)

I don't hate Elena, but I don't particulary like her that much anymore. I loved her in season 1, but I don't like how much of a martyr she's become this season. I expected her to want to fight and not just give up. That's the Elena I thought she was, a fighter. She did more than Katherine did, Katherine just ran away, Elena stayed to protect her family, and I admire that. But she was just giving herself over to Klaus. No deals, nothing. I expected more from her. But still, I don't hate her. She's just another character to me, she's not one of my favorites.
That said, I do love about her how she's willing to stick up to the Salvatore's. She's a strong character, and I understand that it's hard to be strong after everything that's happened to her, and all the people she's lost. Elena has a hard life, she's had to deal with a lot. But I still expected more. If there's a character that can do it, it's Elena. The problem is she'll stand up to the people she loves and who only want to protect her, but she's not willing to make a deal with Klaus to save those she loves. Klaus accepting the deal? Now that's a whole different story. In my opinion, she could have fought more to save Jenna.
The best thing she did this season was take the dagger out of Elijah!!!!! That's my favorite Elena move this season!!!!!

Except that even mister Cardboard, Matt, has more interesting scenes than damn lead heroine.

word character is elastic, dybnaic. Elena has role. She sits there, frowns there, and cares. That about sums up her life. She is boring, weak, useless thing that could as well be replaced by a vase or amulet and nothing would change.
I think she's perfect the way she is.

Yes she is second coming of jesus christ that makes the original jesus look like a hitler. all part of why she is annoying little thing that serves no purpose.

I don't know on what the hell have you been watching lately, but majority of lead female s actually lead.
Out of the top of my head we have Buffy who was pretty much the most awesome female lead to have ever been created Be it fear of death or anger or hate or even when she is not the focus of the scene or cynnism
Then we have Laura Roslin from BSG who was pretty much a strong political leader with very fallible and HUMAn qualities. And also Anna Torv's Olivia on fringe(complete with doppelganger shennanigans), Who is quite complex character with strengths and weaknesses, Emily rose's Audrey on Haven, who is going on through great existential crisis Elena shoul dhave had when she found out what she was.
She's amazing just the way she is, and anyone who thinks otherwise is delirious.

to sum up - show and writers continue to tell us on just how great elena is and how PERFECT she is, but she is never allowed to BE. Its always "elena used to be fun", "elena cares so much", "elena that", "elena was right" and so on, while she is put there on boarding house as object to shrug and frown and to fuel the damn triangle of doom which does not even exist yet(DES)

Should I just laugh at the fact you think she is amazing or also at the fact that you just dismised everyone else's opinions because they do not fit with yours for pure reason that they do not fit with yours? XD

Totally agree with @TeamDamon4ever!!!
And for me as a Delena shipper, it was also annoying how she always rejected Damon and when he was dying, she suddenly regrets all those things...

I do like Elena and her character... I just prefer other characters to her (e.g. Damon, Katherine, Caroline, etc.). I think other characters have gone thru more growth than her and have been developed a lot better over the course of two seasons...
Like in s1 I really liked how she cared about others so much and her spunk and fire.....
But in S2 those parts of her were kind of taken away because of all the focus of her being a martyr.... It got kind of irritating....
I mean I get that she would die to save her loved ones.... but she should have at least been more open to find OTHER WAYS (to keep them safe whilst keeping herself away from harm too)
But yeah all in all I do like elena....
