She is a vampire who have lived for 500 years. Why would she change look for these 2 years? It doesn't make any sense. There is no good reason why she would have changed her looks.

err...because she is egoistic selfish bitch who cares only about herself is self-aware and LOVES to be a center of attention?

Because back then when the show was good SHE DID change her style once in a while.

Come MidS2 and she is yet another elena, always dressing the same

I think Katherine's character was fab till the end of that Masquerade. That episode was executed really well. They should've killed her then or just shut her into that tomb forever. But no, she ended up doubling as Elena, being involved in the moonstone business and all. And in S3 she was worse, when she started talking about the humanity trash.

  6.  ^agreed.

Kahterine has pretty much been made into a second Elena, complete with Salvatore obsession.

She did not even GET enough screentime as villain. One minute she was there, the second she was locked and then the writers just...kept her, destroying her character more and more - the same thing that is happening with Klaus now.

  8. A great villain has to have a sufficient amount of hype, great start, actual consequences in the storyline and great finish.

So far the only thing tvd "villains" got from that was hype. After being hyped and introduced, they usually get less and less dangerous, in the end ending up becoming good guys. I can forgive it with Damon since he never was an actual "villain" and it fits his character, but afterward every single antagonist - John, Katherine, Klaus, Caroline's father, Isobel, etc - got turned into a next Damon, following the same road into pitifulness.

I still think if they didn't hype their villians so much, they wouldn't end up as such disappointment, they ARE good for a while afterall but they all mellow with time and they have to look for a new big bad.

@Kiddie Pool Those are my thoughts as well... and it would really help if they, instead of doing the classic "(S)he doesn't care about who he has to kill to get what he wants, no humanity left, danger to Elena" - sums up every. single. big villain they have had on this show. It's gotten unbelievably dull. At this point, I think I might just want Bonnie to 'go dark'. It would be hilarious, and boring, but at least it would be something new. And maybe finally the main gang could have an actual ethical dilemma.
