Okay so let me start this by saying 'i am not complaining about the vampire diaries' and it's writing because i still think it's epic, it still rocks my socks and it still surprises me. however there are a few plot holes i noticed which is probably a direct effect of what i happen to ship.
the main plot hole is Damon.
in around the middle of the season we learned the real reason why Damon returns to Mystic Falls. It's to free Katherine of the tomb and be with her again. In the episode where he finally reveals that I remember it because I found the banter between Stefan and Damon really funny and cute and me being the Stefan fan I am, it was one of his funnier episodes where he let other shades of his personality out. I found it really sexy. Anyway, Damon revealed to Stefan that he had asked Emily to protect Katherine from death while alluding the fact that she's a witch pretty much meant that Emily's own demise was coming soon. In return he'd protect her bloodline. The BAMON fan in me looooooooved this development because in a weird off way Damon kind of saved Bonnie's life. If Emily's bloodline was captured and burned along with her, there'd obviously be no Bonnie today.
But that kind of contradicts what happened in the later episode Blood Brothers. Damon seemed kind of depressed and way too weepy over a girl whom he 'knew' wasn't really dead. Plus he didn't even want to turn because he figured (after)life was not worth living without Katherine. I get tho the reason why the writers did that, to make Stefan have that 'responsibility' but IMO they had other ways to make Stefan 'bad' than to basically re-write their own history. but KEEP IN MIND i still love this show.. i'm not complaining. too hard lmao.
Also, I remembered from the previous episodes that Stefan had not one single clue that Katherine was still 'alive' and by 'alive' I mean basically mummified (I know neither Salvatore boy realized she was never in the tomb) so I was really confused as to why Anna seemed to know. Unless she happened to over hear the conversation between Damon and Emily.. or unless she happened to be around, I have no clue how she'd possibly have any knowledge of the deal between Damon and Emily. Tho this hole, or whatever you call it is clearly irrelevant now that Anna and Pearl are dead.

Anna had seen Katherine in Chicago in 1983. Pearl witnessed Katherine's magic over people. A guard at the church that locked the vamps in was obsessed with Katherine.
And Katherine promised to turn him and the guard let her go. So Pearl (ergo, the other vamps) was aware...hmmm...
That may be one motivation to kill them. :)

i meant how she knew that the entire tomb was still alive. but i guess that explains it. maybe she never knew for sure, maybe she just had hope that maybe her mom could still be saved.
IDK maybe i am not wording that right lmfao

where was this mentioned in? the tomb thing i meant. and idk in the earlier flashback this all happened the night she died, but we saw that the second time she was captured both damon and stefan were shot dead. and when stefan came to the damage had already been done. so wouldn't have damon made that deal before that?

Damon was upset because he originally did think Katherine died in the church. Emily didn't want him to know because she felt it was a "curse" living as a vamp. She didn't want to add motivation to Damon by discovering Katherine was alive, he would have completed the transition.
Since Damon transitioned anyway, Emily revealed what she had done with Katherine and that she had been successful in protecting her.
With a crystal, connected to a comet, Emily placed Katherine in a tomb underneath the church and Damon had to wait until the appropriate time (the comet's return) for the crystal to be effective in releasing Katherine.
So the storyline is consistent, because he didn't truly know that Emily had protected Katherine until after he had transitioned completely. Damon talked about it at the end of Blood Brothers.

also in that previous episode, history repeating i think, stefan said he saw katherine go in the church... gah it's confusing lmao

Also, you have to understand he witnessed the church burning, so there wasn't any guarantee that Emily had protected Katherine in his eyes. Emily told him later that she had been "successful" in protecting Katherine with her spell. Ergo, he would know about the mystical tomb under the church.

i think i've seen that scene in an earlier episode, but it must have been lost on me that the salvatore bros were already turned by that point.
