That's one of the reasons killing Kol is so obviously not going to happen, because like Red said, his siblings would go after everyone, specifically Rebekah but I personally think Klaus is protective of his siblings in his own way, I don't think he'd just roll his eyes at Kol dying the same way he did with Finn. But this is why Elena is (apparently) trying to make Stefan dag Bekah, that way they won't have any problems with revenge if Kol dies.
I think a spinoff proves that they're trying to redeem Klaus (unfortunately). so Rebekah dying is not that hard to believe, beacuse killing off his closest sibling would put a big impact on his character or redemption

It's not like he can create hybrids anymore...Unless Elena turns human again before the season ends, which is obviously not going to happen. So why the hell would he stay in a crappy little town where everyone constantly tries to kill him and his family off? Idk, it makes sense to me that he would leave.
