More focus on the main triangle?

Wow, you know, I just finished watching s1 of TVD since I've never seen it before and I can't believe the crap forced on us for the past season and a half:
Elena - if there ever was a show the was able to degrade a character so badly, TVD is the champion in this because really, WTF happened to this girl? I don't mean she was awesome in s1, but at least she had some character - for one thing she could sort of defend herself, and OMG, back in s1 Elena could actually not be ok with anything and admit her life is shit. I don't think I can recall even once during last season that Elena anything like that....no wonder she is psycho, and now that she will be a vampire, and all of that will be "intensified", i can't even imagine how unbearable she will be in s4.
Damon - another character down the toilet. S1 Damon is strong, awesome, does not try to hard to impress anyone and is actually right 90% of the time when it comes to plans and that stuff. Of coarse him rapping Caroline and Vicki both physically and psychologically is disgusting, but at least it was true to his nature. And I actually felt sympathy towards him in the whole Katherine story.
General storylines - wasn't it amazing how everything tied in brilliantly? My God, Matt HAD A WORTH IT STORYLINE! Bonnie wasn't annoying, and I was interested in her journey of finding out about her powers, and still not being a doormat for everyone. Caroline had flaws, but I can see now what people meant that she had good qualities too and she wasn't just an annoying biatch. I guess the writers think they can achieve the same with Elena, but whatever.
Oh, and with regards to the triangle, wel, at least there was a real sense of it, I could see why it is worth to root for DE back then, I guess because Elena was still likeable and Damon wasn't a love sick puppy.
But most of all I loved the mysticism TVD had back then, like the border line between normal and supernatural still went stong in s1, and everyone was so careful that nobody finds out about anything....its not like now that Klaus could start destroying Elena's house and nobody in MF gave a rat's ass about that - her neighbours, the police, the council.....
Yeah, so back to the topic of this threa, i can't really see how more focus can be on a triangle that only exists in the weird mind of JP and a few 12 yearold Ian Somerholder fans....

The best part of Elena in S1 for me was that she would get called out on her shit - Jeremy would call out on her bullshit constantly, Caroline would highlight nonsense in her- EVEN DAMON himself did that quite a few times. She was written as this girl who used to be "uber wild"(especially with her backstory back then which was swiftly retconed in S3 finale) but lost her parents and is overcompensating on care department, and the cast treated it like it is.
Cue S2 and that is gone. Litterally the only things that were promising about her, about her possibilities as character....are gone. Frankly I can't see them doing ANYTHING that would make any sort of difference now.
Anything sudden will feel forced, anything drastic won't have any effect.
Elena could slaughter half the mystic falls and it would not erase two seasons worth of character degradation into nothing.

This, S2 rebooted his character when he stopped doing that and also moved on extremely fast after Anna's death (which reminds me of the complete ridiculousness of the ghost sl)
lol, tvd. every episode's a retcon.

S2 rebooted ALL the characters for worse.

And Amie, I'm pretty sure that the Stelena shippers are the youngest part of the fandom - the older ones ship DE or Elena/Elijah or Elena/Matt.
Oh my effing God....I wanted to facepalm myself but then just continued LOLOLOLOLING.....

^I remember once on tvdnet someone had said that DE's popularity is probably due to its appeal to the younger part of the fandom, and there were few replies along the lines of "I'm thirty-something and I ship DE because they're reminding me of my relationship with my husband, we challenge each other".
I was too shocked to have a response, but what kind of sick relationship you're in if you think it's even slightly comparable to DE (or for that matter, pretty much to any relationship on this show)...

both DE and SE shippers are the youngest parts of the fandom. Well were, since thats all that is left in the fandom now.
SE appeals to wishy-washy sunday-church schoolgirls who dream of romance and happy rich lives and DE appeals to repressed emotionally-damaged teenagers who dream of dark stuff and all that cliche stuff. Either way both groups disgust me.

That chick just killed me with the Elena/Matt reference, I mean the other two you could write of as just general delusion but Matt & Elena, you have to be a total cardboard psycho to think of them as a couple....whatever, I am Team Cesare Borgia AND I recently started watching Revenge so yeah, feel sorry for those who still bother to care about this "love triangle of doom"...

- a ton of GG fans in their late 20's and 30's say the exact same thing about Chair. lmfao
