   Damon loves Elena.....he loves Rose too, but only as his best friend....she knew him, she understood him, cause from her words they are exactly alike....and Damon felt guilty because of all the pain she went through.....it was supposed to be him.....he was supposed to be the one to get bitten by Jules....he was the one that pissed Jules off....he was the one that was supposed to die....he feels guilty because Rose died because of him!!!!!

   I agree... he loved Rose, but he wasn't in love with her... big difference.

   He loves Elena. Rose was just someone that cared deeply for and the love there was different. I think he needed Rose to realize a lot of things about him and to become vulnerable and in the end that's what happened.

   Damon loves Elena; he shared a very deep bond/understanding with Rose. He wasn't in love her- she is kind of like what Lexi was to Stefan I guess.

    this was from an interview w/ ian:

    One word of advice for Vampire Diaries viewers feeling sorry that Damon lost Rose: Don't.

    Ian Somerhalder says Damon never actually felt for her. "Not to burst anyone's bubble, it's not that Damon actually gave a sh-- about Rose, it's really what it evoked in him and made him realize what is really important to him," Somerhalder tells TVGuide.com.
