Still don't get it....Elena wasn't even in a relationship with Damon to begin with nor did they ever have a logical discussion about the way forward then they suddenly have sex. Idk, I feel the writers wanted to do away with the whole can't they bang already thing. No one is responsible for fucking anything, minus Damon in this show.
- Steffie's bullshit plotline last season got completely white-washed with about a dozen of excuses.
- Alaric's insanity got written off to a convenient plot device that excuses his actions.
- Damon is just "misunderstood".
- Santa Claus is "just heartbroken family man".
Elena being excused for her decisions is also not surprising in this show - watch them undo the sire bond/turn-her-human and see her revert to her usual self, resetting any sort of triangle progression again.
Elena always has been a personality-less puppet used to further the "stories" of two misogynist brothers and that will never change.

And how Jeremy has to kill random vampires just as long as it's not the MF gang vampires. That's a bit cruel, if the MF vampires after all they did deserve to live then why not other the vampires which are going to be offered for Jeremy's slaughter. Sadly yes, he has hallucinations just like Alaric did and a sudden mad urge to kill vampires. He stabbed Elena at some point. And mr cardboard has to move in with him and watch over him just like Alaric had to be monitored in case his alter ego popped. Not to mention Jeremy also owns that death defying ring.
