actually I think Fangel(Faith/Angel) is as good as Cangel for me after S8.

Well, talked about this already, i think. General consensus in the fanbase seems to be that she was not supposed to be liked in her first appearanced, but would have been developed over time. if show continued

to be exact: her purpose was not to be liked. Her purpose was as a retrospective to Buffy herself. To contrast early buffy to current damaged and cynnical buffy. She was there to get the feelings out that one would feel towards their own little sibling too. I think I read somewhere in some interview of Whedon's back when s7 aired that had show continued, Dawn would slowly become her own person, develop into a character. Frankly I am still sad we never godt to see that. IMO S7 dawn already was quite a stark contrast from earlier dawns.
I still kind of wonder on what could have become of her character.

Yes Dawn had some rushed developement in late S6 and early S7 and she was a lot less focused than in the other season. Which is why S7 was so great;)

I just started watching BTVS a couple days ago, and I think it's an okay show. The acting can be a little weird and cheesy at times, but it's good. I mostly like that Angel guy, he's hot and mysterious, what's his deal anyway? Is he supernatural?

Watch the show past S1.
S1 was, as stated many times in these 2 BtVS threads, meant only as a mini-serie combining old horror movies. Because of the huge succes they build it further. In episode 7 of S1, you get info on Angel and his past.

okay, but he's not a vamp or anything like that?

In Episode 7 Season 1 "Angel" you will get to know about him. . .
Just watch it;)
I dunno what you mean about "cheesy" acting, but some people find it cheesy that BtVS show vampires as the monsters they are. They give them a somewhat scary monster face. And they are not tanned as they are in some of the shows today(including TVD). To some people, that adds up in something being cheesy, and yea something in S1 was(episode 8 "I Robot, You Jane"). The tone totally changes in S2.
Also(@Kitanishi might know this better) but i believe S1 was low budget, although i am not sure.
