OT: BTVS Thread
Luckily, no it's not. And Dawn isn't the teenager i would label "spoiled". Buffy was the teenager one would call "spoiled". When she lived in L.A. the cash was flowing and such. While she sometimes did something stupid and made dumb calls, it is no where near as stupid as the things Dawn do. And Buffy had an awesome character backing her up, which Dawn does not. I would rather watch TVD Elena scenes than scenes with Dawn. While Elena is boring as hell, Dawn ultimately cause you to be annoyed with the episode.
And the worst thing is, Dawn never gets called on the shit she does without an apology making Buffy say it is all her fault. She is like Matt from TVD, where Buffy would be Caroline, only Buffy ain't the retard that Caroline were, which kinda justify Matt(at least S1. But then again, in S2 Caroline was a vampire who almost killed him, and did kill another guy, so it is argueable whether it's better to have a boyfriend who is embaressed by her stupid acting, or having a girlfriend who is a murdered and close to murdering you aswell).
Ok that comparison got a little out of hand. But most people she Matt as a douch who wipes feet on his murderous girlfriend, while other does not. For those who see him as a douch, the comparison makes sense;)
Frankly no it does not :P
Matt hate has obvious and justified reasons. He is not hatesd just because he is normal everyday human.
The probkem with Dawn is that she is completely and utterly normal existance. No huge mental issues, no huge addictions, no superpowers,
Xander had a lot of genre-savyness, Willow was uber awesome and uber powerful, Buffy was both messed up, powerfull, awesome and very fanbase-dividing. They all had multiple facets to their personalities, multiple reasons to exist, multiple reasons for their actions.
Dawn was just...teenager. Her all reasons and actions started and ended with word teenager.
And frankly I would not say Dawn was that different from los-angeles Buffy. Just a whole lot more rebelous :)
I do not hate her, but I fully understand why some would hate her :)
I have never known, and hopefully will ever hear of or know a teenager who act even remotely close to Dawn's dumbness. While we didn't see much of L.A. Buffy(only that one short clip) then yes that might be what Dawn is like(only a loss less popular, wonder why). But when i say L.A. i also more or less mean S1 Buffy. She was also there what i would call spoiled, but you didn't have to question litteraly every footstep she made.
Also character wise, there never is any consequences for Dawn. No matter of freaking stupid she acts, all the characters is like "It's not her fault. She is just a kid". Well it bloody well is entirely her fault. Instead of cutting her arm, she should really have slitted her own throat.
I would say kleptomania is kinda an addiction. Or a huge mental issue. Take your pick;P
I'm still bitter about Xander and Cordy, they should be end game.
And You're Welcome, I might not be a Bangel fan but
I would love to see Buffy instead of Cordy, and you know that episode was intended for Buffy.
Cordelia/Angel, Anya/Xander and SPike/Buffy for the win :P
well we kind of had that discussion already and If i remember correctly, my poisition was that Dawn's klepto issues came mostly because buffy kind of redefined what it means to be a complete and utter uncaring bitch lol :P I see Dawn as someone who just kept doing those things for attention. She WANTED to get reprecursions for her actions. That never came. cue klepto issues, suicidal tendencies and generic tries to annoy everyone.
And well, majority of teenagers are like her. You are a happy person to NOT have encountered her kind :)
I like Bangel as sort of trainwreck-pairing-now-we-are-exes-in-awkward-situations stuff. The kind of childhood pairing that went terribly terribly wrong and now every time the two meet you either get sexual innuendos, fighting, awkwardness or all three :P
and frankly after Season 8 comics I would never ever see a happy ending for bangel...ever. Buffy would most likely hunt him down, torture him and kill him, the moment she finds out he is sane again.
